As Christmas draws near, one question feels more urgent than ever: How can we celebrate sustainably?
In our search for inspiring answers, we found two standout examples from the hospitality industry, both proving that creativity and responsibility can go hand in hand.
- The Upper House Hong Kong
Back in 2022, the hotel unveiled a 100% upcycled, zero-waste Christmas tree made entirely from recycled plastic bottles and glass. Even more impressive? The installation wasn’t meant to be thrown away after the holidays. Instead, it can be reconfigured into functional furniture—tables, chairs, even lamps—for a charity auction. A brilliant reminder that design can be both festive and circular.
- Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui
This year, the resort introduced a sustainable Christmas tree crafted from tropical plants and natural materials sourced directly from its own farm. And once the celebrations end, every plant and material will return to the farm to continue growing, ensuring nothing goes to waste and the cycle of renewal stays unbroken.
As we step into the festive season, may these stories inspire us to celebrate with intention, creativity, and care for our planet.
