The US-based burger chain saw revenues in Europe rise by more than £90m during its latest financial year from £452.3m in 2022 to £542.9m for the year ended 31 December 2023.

Revenue in the UK increased from £278.6m to £316.4m while sales grew from £61.3m to £77.9m in France, from £61.1m to £77.9m in Germany and £51.3m to £70.6m in Spain.

The company also reported a pre-tax loss of £16.2, down from £35.6m over the same 12-month period last year.

According to accounts filed at Companies House, Five Guys operated 256 restaurants across the UK, France, Spain, and Germany at year end, a net increase of 14 sites on the previous year.

“The group continued its expansion and the directors are confident in the growth plans going forward in all territories,” the company says in its report.

“The high levels of inflation experienced in 2022 continued into 2023 and, whilst the group was not completely immune to this, we were able to manage out cost base effectively and implement modest price increases to offset the impact of rising input costs.”
