Accor, a world-leading hospitality group with over 5,600 properties across more than 110 countries, is pleased to announce the Group has taken over the management of The Grand Tarabya, a historic property nestled in Istanbul’s upscale Tarabya neighborhood along the Bosphorus Strait. Effective Dec. 31, 2024, The Grand Tarabya marks Accor’s 38th property in Istanbul, reinforcing the Group’s continued expansion in key cities across Europe and the Middle East, as well as the destination’s growing reputation as a global hub for luxury hospitality.
The Grand Tarabya has long been a symbol of beauty and elegance, since its original opening as one of Turkey’s first five-star hotels in 1966, and its subsequent restoration and reopening in 2013. The property features 248 rooms and suites, 29 residences, seven distinct food and beverage venues, and an extensive wellness center.
The property will be managed by Accor under a white label for the duration of an extensive renovation to elevate the hotel’s offerings. Upon completion of the renovation, The Grand Tarabya will be fully rebranded as a Fairmont property, ensuring a seamless transition and integration of Fairmont’s signature brand markers, complemented by touches that celebrate the property’s rich heritage and vibrant local culture.
The Grand Tarabya has an esteemed legacy, which we are honored to carry forward. With the proposed transformation of this landmark property, The Grand Tarabya will be a perfect addition to our portfolio, joining iconic Fairmont hotels such as The Plaza in New York and The Savoy in London. Together with our partners at Bayraktarlar Group, our vision is to preserve the property’s rich history and heritage while enhancing its appeal for today’s luxury travelers. With such exciting plans for the hotel, I have no doubt that The Grand Tarabya will quickly become one of our most sought-after destinations. Omer Acar, CEO, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Raffles Hotels & Resort
This partnership reflects our ongoing commitment to invest in distinguished destinations that offer a unique blend of historical charm with modern luxury. The Grand Tarabya offers a prestigious setting that aligns with both Accor and Fairmont’s ethos, and we are confident under the new stewardship, the hotel will continue to thrive. Ahmet Bayraktar, Chairman Bayraktarlar Holding
