AccorInvest, has introduced Think Circular, a forward-looking renovation model rooted in circular economy principles. This approach is designed to transform how hotels are renovated, focusing on sustainability, adaptability, and long-term performance.
Think Circular addresses the evolving demands of the hospitality industry, where guests seek both comfort and eco-conscious experiences, operators aim to optimize efficiency while meeting ESG goals, and investors look for sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
The concept delivers on all fronts through modular, reusable design strategies that extend the lifecycle of materials and minimize environmental impact.
“We are proud to present this evolution of Think Circular, which reflects our commitment to responsible innovation. Through our room designs, we are proving that it is possible to combine operational efficiency, aesthetic demands and environmental sustainability,” – Franck Bermond, Director of Construction & ESG at AccorInvest.
Key features include 80% reduced waste, 50% lower carbon emissions, 80% improved air quality, and a flexible design that allows quick adaptation to changing trends. First implemented in ibis hotels in 2019, Think Circular has already been applied to over 2,500 rooms, between 2021 and 2024, across France, Germany, the UK, Spain, Portugal, and Poland. Results show a 70% reduction in renovation time, 20% cost savings, and 80% less waste generation.
Moreover, Think Circular was a finalist in the Hospitality Awards 2023, on the Sustainable Development category.
Presented during Milan’s Fuorisalone design event, the latest iteration of Think Circular now offers broader applicability across economy and mid-scale hotel segments, extending beyond guest rooms to include public areas.
This evolution marks a key step toward AccorInvest’s goal of making circular renovation a standard practice across its portfolio, supporting both environmental stewardship and operational resilience.
