May 8, 2025

Cendyn and Amadeus, two leading hospitality technology providers, have released the latest results from their joint Hospitality Group and Business Performance Index, offering a comprehensive look into the health of the hotel industry across Group, Corporate Negotiated, GDS, and Event segments. The Index, powered by data from Knowland by Cendyn and Amadeus’ Demand360® solution, shows that hotel performance is continuing to rise, with the overall index reaching its highest level in four quarters. The first quarter of 2025 demonstrated strong growth trends across all major business segments, signaling a robust and steady recovery for the global hospitality industry.

Key takeaways

  • Record index score: Overall hospitality performance hit 109.1% in Q1 2025 compared to the same period in 2024—the highest in the past year.
  • Group segment growth: Group bookings saw consistent growth for the tenth consecutive quarter, with room nights up 2.6% and ADR up 4.7%, resulting in a Group Index of 107.4%.
  • GDS momentum: Global Distribution System (GDS) channels showed strong performance with a 7.4% rise in room nights and 2.0% ADR growth, bringing the GDS Index to 109.5%.
  • Corporate travel rebounds: The Negotiated (corporate) segment improved to 104.8%, fueled by slight gains in both room nights (+1.2%) and ADR (+3.5%).
  • Events lead the charge: The Events segment posted the strongest year-over-year growth at 114.6%, maintaining high volumes from the previous quarter.
  • Meetings fuel expansion: Meetings and events significantly contributed to hotel growth across property sizes. Average space usage rose by 22.7%, and cities like St. Louis, Austin, and Philadelphia saw meeting volume growth of over 129%.
