As Waikiki’s first hotel, the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort and Spa, prepares for its 125th anniversary in 2026, the resort celebrated a significant milestone in its landmark rejuvenation. The resort’s refreshed lobby debuted on July 3, balancing the preservation of its celebrated Victorian architecture with elegant enhancements, and the Tower Wing began welcoming guests to its renovated rooms. Full completion of the Tower rooms is scheduled for late August 2025.
The Moana’s Historic Lobby has been refreshed with a sophisticated and tranquil aesthetic, honoring its storied Victorian architecture. Graceful, curved seating vignettes welcome guests to the light-filled space, and accent tables play off the soaring ceiling’s curved chandelier fixtures. Notable upgrades include newly refinished original wood flooring, custom-designed transitional furnishings, and bespoke art pieces by Kristen Reyno (Lola Pilar Hawaii), incorporating botanical elements of the hotel’s Banyan tree. The front desk now features elegant check-in pods and a striking sculptural lighting fixture inspired by the courtyard’s tree, which is on the National Register of Historic Trees. The lobby’s beloved piano bar, Vintage 1901, offers a versatile setting for dining and gatherings.
The reimagined guest rooms and suites in the Tower Wing are serene modern beach luxury retreats, showcasing clean, rhythmic patterns, warm metallic accents, and a calming palette echoing the various shades of Waikiki’s ocean views.
- Tower Wing guest rooms, available in either a king bed or a new two-queen bed configuration, include zones designed for comfort and flexibility, curved banquette seating areas, integrated workspaces, a custom-designed reading area, and a refreshment station with a coffee maker and mini refrigerator. From lanais (balconies) featuring new residential-style lounge furniture, guests can enjoy breathtaking city, ocean, and Leahi (Diamond Head) views.
- Tower Wing oceanfront one-bedroom suites feature expansive living rooms with a dining table for four guests, wet bar, seating area, and entertainment center with a flatscreen television, and a carved work station. The bedroom is a serene retreat featuring a king bed and artful touches highlighting Hawaii’s natural beauty. Notably, the Tower Wing’s Suites offer spacious lanais that extend the entertainment spaces, offering unparalleled indoor-outdoor living and views.
Guests interested in experiencing the newly renovated Tower Wing rooms can book a limited-time special offer: up to 35 percent off on stays of three nights or more, and 20,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points. Here is the link to the members’ only offer.
The phase one completion marks significant progress in the Moana Surfrider’s comprehensive renewal project. Banyan Wing guest rooms will be available in Fall 2025, and Diamond Wing guest rooms in Winter 2025; all phases are scheduled for completion ahead of the resort’s 125th anniversary on March 11, 2026.
