Palladium Cares, the identity that encompasses all of Palladium Hotel Group‘s Corporate Social Responsibility projects, is celebrating its second anniversary. The company is consolidating its commitment through four pillars of action: Our People, Our Community, Our Planet and Our Company. The final pillar has always been at the centre of everything, but now takes on its own identity, highlighting the integration of sustainability into the corporate structure.
A NEW PILLAR: OUR COMPANY
Our Company reinforces its commitment to responsible governance, regulatory compliance, and transparency, in alignment with international frameworks such as the EU Taxonomy and the principles of double materiality. Reflecting this commitment, Palladium Hotel Group continues to evolve with the goal of generating sustainable value for its employees, clients, and local communities.
The progress of Palladium Cares reflects the group’s commitment to lasting positive impact. The effort and dedication of our employees are the driving force behind large-scale projects with real impact. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with NGOs that share our values and help us bring our initiatives to life. America has opened extraordinary doors for us, and we celebrate the impact we are experiencing there, especially in the social and sustainability arenas. We continue to generate value for employees, the planet, and local communities. Gloria Juste, Corporate Social Responsibility Sr. Director at Palladium Hotel Group
PROGRESS IN SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PILLARS
Palladium Cares has continued to advance its commitment across all pillars. Through Our People, the group has promoted key projects such as supporting the expansion of a daycare centre near its hotels in Jamaica and Mexico, helping employees achieve a better work-life balance, and creating a solidarity fund to assist staff facing extraordinary circumstances.
In addition, the university scholarship programme for employees’ children in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, funded by the Abel Matutes Foundation, now benefits six new students who join the three who started earlier this year. The programme covers full tuition, living expenses, and technological equipment.
Through Our Planet, the group has implemented food surplus measurement tools in its hotels, resulting in a significant reduction in waste. The food donation project in collaboration with OREKA has enabled the donation of over 2,500 meals, preventing more than 615kg of food waste and reducing over 10,970kg of CO₂ emissions. Other noteworthy initiatives that combine sustainability, social impact, and the circular economy include Soap for Hope, which recycles used soap from hotels in Mexico and the Dominican Republic into new hygiene products sold by vulnerable communities as a source of income; and Linens for Life, which repurposes discarded linens and towels into useful items donated to nonprofits for resale or community use.
As part of its commitment to biodiversity, the group is also advancing significant projects such as supporting sea turtle conservation efforts in Brazil and the Riviera Maya through nest identification and protection initiatives.
OUR COMMUNITY: EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES
The Our Community pillar focuses on skill development and generating new employment opportunities in the communities where the group operates, through the Palladium Hotel Group’s Training Centres. Already established in Jamaica, Brazil, and Mexico—this initiative is now expanding to Europe. Through a partnership with NGO Cáritas
in Ibiza, more than 45 vulnerable individuals will be selected to participate in a vocational training programme including internships after the summer season.
To date, there are nine training centres, including one located in Isla Mujeres (Mexico), managed in collaboration with the Fundación Origen. Since its opening in October 2024, over 2,000 people have received training in employability, community development, and soft skills.
In Jamaica, Palladium Cares runs seven centres offering hospitality training in collaboration with local organisations. Last year, 79 students graduated and completed internships at the group’s facilities. Currently, 102 students are enrolled, with 86 of them already undertaking internships at one of the hotels of the company.
In Brazil, 250 students have received training at the group-run centre, with four different courses offered in the past year. Thirty-two students are currently completing internships.
GLOBAL PROJECT “4 CAUSES 4 QUARTERS”: IMPACT BEYOND BORDERS
The global project 4 Causes 4 Quarters, already implemented in all hotels across Europe and the Americas, strengthens collaboration with NGOs through year-round actions aligned with social and environmental causes. It brings together employees, hotels, and clients around a different cause each quarter.
In Europe, the initiative has benefited over 3,292 people, thanks to the dedication of 1,697 volunteers who have contributed more than 6,791 hours of service. In the Americas, where the project was recently launched, over 788 people have already benefited, with 231 volunteers contributing more than 1,639 hours of volunteer work.
In its second year, guests have also been invited to participate in social projects through initiatives such as: Fundraising at check-out and Sandy Footprints, which encourages guests to bring clothes, books, school supplies, or medical materials to donate to nearby organisations and even opportunities to take part in the delivery of donations, fostering real connections with local communities.
COMMITTED TO POSITIVE IMPACT: ONGOING PROGRESS
Through Our People, the group continues to scale successful local projects internationally so that more employees can benefit. A clear example is the training scholarship programme currently available in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
Socially, the Our Community pillar drives the expansion of Training Centres in both the Americas and Europe. This growth phase starts in Ibiza—the company’s place of origin—through new partnerships that support professional development and inclusion by offering training and opportunities to local communities.
From an environmental standpoint, under Our Planet, the group has launched new projects focused on biodiversity. A recently inaugurated agricultural centre in Punta Cana promotes sustainable farming, native plant cultivation, and beekeeping. This centre not only encourages environmentally friendly practices but also generates strong social impact by actively involving the local community in its operations and training.
Another promising initiative under evaluation is the potential collaboration with local institutions in the Dominican Republic focused on marine ecosystem restoration. Currently under review, this proposal includes actions such as coral, seagrass, and mangrove restoration, with plans for future expansion to Mexico and other destinations.
