On 11 September 2025, Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall opens its doors, marking the brand’s return to Melbourne’s CBD. As part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s largest and leading hotel companies, the opening marks IHG’s first dual-hotel development in Australia alongside Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins. The 273-room Holiday Inn features the brand’s signature Open Lobby, all-day dining and a standout 220sqm private terrace event space with unobstructed views over Bourke Street Mall.

Located above the reimagined Melbourne Walk and on the doorstep of Bourke Street Mall, guests are centrally located in the beating heart of Melbourne. Developed by Steadfast Capital, Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall showcases the vision of acclaimed global design studio Buchan and the expertise of Hickory, one of Australia’s leading construction firms. The dual hotels blend contemporary design with Melbourne’s cultural heritage, integrating the preserved Art Deco façades of landmark buildings Diamond House, Public Benefit Bootery, Allan’s, and the York Building – reimagined for the 21st century.

Public Spaces

Stepping off the bustle of Little Collins Street, guests are welcomed by Holiday Inn’s concierge team, who guide them to the Level 2 reception with a streamlined check-in service. Within the lobby, a greenery-backed “Hello” sign sets a tone of inclusivity, reflecting the brand’s commitment to delivering an authentic and approachable experience. The open-plan lobby combines soft blond wood and fresh pops of green to create a sense of calm and connection. Flexible seating and power outlets make it equally suited to relaxing or working, consistent with Holiday Inn’s next-generation design ethos.

The hotel’s standout feature is its 220-square-metre private terrace event space, offering unobstructed views over Bourke Street Mall to the striking GPO clock tower, the historic Myer building, and Melbourne’s skyline – an adaptable setting for both corporate functions and celebratory gatherings.

Dining

Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall’s in-house venue, The Greenery, offers all-day dining in a light-filled, open space. Guests can start the day with a buffet breakfast, along with made-to-order eggs, or enjoy lunch and dinner with a menu centred on familiar and hearty dishes. Kids aged 12 and under eat free as part of Holiday Inn’s Kids Stay & Eat Free promise.

The menu includes thoughtfully crafted small plates such as the Laneways Board with charcuterie, farmhouse cheeses, parfait, pickles, and preserves ($42). Other menu highlights include 250g Aged Sirloin Steak MB 4+ with café de Paris butter ($48), Crisp Fried Reef Fish with mixed leaf salad, fries & tartare sauce ($34) and slow-braised beef cheeks with Paris mash, truffle honey carrots, and thyme crumble ($46). For children, the kids’ hamburger comes with cheese, sauce, and fries, topped with a playful smiley face burger bun.

Accommodation and Amenities

Guest rooms are bright and welcoming, decorated with modern artworks inspired by Melbourne’s monuments and skyline. A warm palette of greens, pinks and mustard, paired with retro-inspired finishes, gives each space a relaxed, playful feel. Clever design details – from intimate dining nooks to hidden clothes hooks – reflect Holiday Inn’s focus on practical comfort with moments of surprise. With 92 double-double rooms, the hotel is especially suited for families and small groups travelling together.

Rooms are equipped with refrigerators, coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi, and Chromecast-enabled TVs. Guests can choose from standard or premium rooms with views of laneways, courtyards, or Bourke Street Mall. Amenities include a gym fitted with Lifecycle equipment and access to The Causeway conference spaces, offering flexible meeting rooms for up to 70 guests.

A Dual Launch for Melbourne

The opening of Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall, alongside Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins, marks an exciting moment for Melbourne’s CBD. More than a dual hotel launch, it represents a revitalisation of Bourke Street Mall and its laneways, blending global expertise with local spirit.

With a welcoming design, family-friendly features, and a location that places the best of the city at guests’ doorsteps, Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall is set to become a trusted base for families, business travellers, and friends alike. Just a short tram ride from popular tourist attractions such as the National Gallery of Victoria, the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Melbourne International Airport is 21 kilometres from the hotel.

Guests also enjoy the benefits of IHG One Rewards, with access to exclusive perks and experiences at more than 6,700 destinations worldwide.
