I’ve talked for a long time about the importance of becoming known, building a reputation, and AI search is making that more true than ever.

When today’s large language models such as ChatGPT, Grok, and Perplexity answer user queries, they compile information from across the web. That means that, even if you ask them a direct question such as ,”tell me about my program name”, they’ll cross reference multiple sources to generate an answer, not just your website.

if you want them not just saying the right thing, but good things about you, and if you want your organization showing up in AI answers, you need to control the narrative across the web, not just on your website.

This means PR, local presence with references, monitoring third party sources, social media, paid media, and forum engagement.

That’s a level of sophistication most providers have not engaged in historically and they’ll be left behind if they don’t start upping their game.
