The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, a landmark coastal retreat with a 90-year legacy, is embarking on a $60 million resort-wide transformation of both the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club and its sister property, the La Jolla Shores Hotel, to refresh the experience for members and guests.
The first phase of the project, focused on La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club, is set for completion in spring 2025 and will enhance key areas including the pool and deck, restaurant and bar, and back-of-house facilities—all while preserving the rich coastal heritage that has made The Club an iconic destination for generations.
The reimagination, envisioned by Studio UNLTD, who also redesigned The Marine Room and Walnut Lounge, will introduce a refined seaside aesthetic that merges the Spanish colonial charm of the original property with modern, luxurious touches.
The reimagined pool deck will feature a more open layout with expanded seating options, including private cabanas and stylish chaise lounges. Cozy teak banquettes and long upholstered seats will provide ample space for groups of all sizes to gather, relax, and enjoy the coastal surroundings.
Just steps away, the Club Dining Room will embrace a coastal California vibe, offering a mix of seating options—from spacious booths designed for intimate gatherings to tables that showcase stunning oceanfront views. A standout feature of the adjacent patio will be the newly installed Marra Forni pizza oven, where chefs will prepare wood fired creations straight from the hearth.
The bar will retain its classic charm while receiving a thoughtful refresh with materials inspired by the recently remodeled Walnut Lounge, including honed Calcutta marble, a wood-paneled face, and oak-clad rattan soffits. Rounding out the updates, a new market will offer a curated selection of grab-and-go items.
