IHG Hotels & Resorts announces the signing of Hotel Indigo Torquay with The Fragrance Group, a new addition to its UK & Ireland leisure portfolio. This new property is expected to open in the second half of 2025.

Enhancing luxury and lifestyle options

This property will be the 26th Hotel Indigo in IHG’s UK & Ireland portfolio and will contribute to the growing luxury and lifestyle offering in the region. Located in Devon, the hotel will be a key addition to one of the UK’s most popular leisure destinations, Torquay.

“Our Hotel Indigo brand has experienced accelerated growth in Europe and globally in recent years, propelling owner and guest appetite for the brand. Leisure destinations such as Torquay, known for its seaside charm and year-round activities, perfectly embody Hotel Indigo’s commitment in providing guests with memorable stays entrenched in the stories of their neighbourhoods.” – Joanna Kurowska, Managing Director, UK & Ireland at IHG Hotels & Resorts

The 153-room Hotel Indigo Torquay is set to open in the second half of 2025 and will cater for both domestic and international travellers. Located in Torquay, part of the English Riviera, the hotel will feature a rooftop bar, sea-facing terraces, and a destination restaurant and bar. Guests can enjoy views over the beach, harbour, and marina.

In addition to the dining and bar options, the hotel will feature a well-equipped gym and an on-site spa offering various treatments. It aims to provide guests with a relaxing and immersive experience while they explore the seaside town.

“Torbay has firmly earned its place as one of the UK’s top tourist destinations, thanks to its unique blend of natural beauty and wealth of leisure opportunities. With ongoing developments along the town’s waterfront location, Torquay will continue to be recognised as a leading leisure destination in the UK.” – Martin Rogers, representing Fragrance Group

Partnership and growth strategy

Hotel Indigo Torquay is a part of IHG’s strategy to expand its presence in leisure and secondary markets in the UK & Ireland. The signing reflects the company’s focus on conversions and capitalizing on opportunities in key destinations.

The hotel will join 19 other Hotel Indigo properties in the region, including the recently opened Hotel Indigo Coventry, Hotel Indigo Exeter, Hotel Indigo London K West Sheperds Bush and is one of six properties currently in development, including Hotel Indigo London – Clerkenwell and Hotel Indigo Leeds, which are scheduled to open in Q2 2025.

“We are confident that working alongside IHG Hotels & Resorts, with their expert knowledge of the UK & Ireland market, backed by their industry-leading powerful enterprise, that Hotel Indigo Torquay will become a market leader in Torquay’s luxury and lifestyle segment.” – Martin Rogers, representing Fragrance Group

The signing of Hotel Indigo Torquay further strengthens IHG’s footprint in the UK & Ireland, where the company currently operates 363 hotels and has 33 more in development. This growth reflects IHG’s ongoing commitment to expanding its portfolio in sought-after leisure destinations.
