The forthcoming hotel, Mondrian Arcaya, will be integrated into Arcaya, a large-scale mixed-use development currently under construction in Vilamoura, in the Algarve region. The property is scheduled to open in 2028.
Mondrian Arcaya will include 120 rooms, among them 30 suites. The hotel will feature three dining outlets, including a rooftop restaurant with ocean views, a poolside bar, and a combined lobby and all-day dining space. Additional amenities will include wellness facilities, a fitness centre, and three pools.
The project represents the debut of the Mondrian brand in Portugal and contributes to its European expansion. Mondrian Arcaya is positioned to appeal to both international visitors and local residents, through curated cultural programming and collaborations with regional creative communities.
“This is a major step forward for the Mondrian brand and a proud moment for Ennismore,” “Portugal, and the Algarve in particular, offers the ideal setting for our first property in the country thanks to its rich culture, stunning landscape, and a globally sought-after lifestyle. Together with Bondstone, we’re creating something that will resonate with both international travellers and the local community.” – Phil Zrihen, head of Americas and brand COO for Mondrian at Ennismore
Arcaya, the broader development led by Bondstone, combines residential, hospitality, commercial, and leisure elements in a pedestrian-friendly environment. Emphasis is placed on sustainable design, integration with the natural landscape, and year-round activation.
The Algarve’s growing popularity as an international tourism destination supports the development. According to the Portuguese Institute for Tourism Development (IPDT), Portugal is expected to reach over 33 million international arrivals in 2025.
Mondrian’s global portfolio includes properties in key cities such as Singapore, London, New York, and Seoul. With additional hotels planned in destinations including Bucharest, Riyadh, and the Maldives, the brand is expanding its footprint in markets known for cultural relevance and design-led hospitality.
