Rio Perdido, an eco-luxury boutique hotel in the biodiverse tropical dry forest of western Costa Rica’s Guanacaste Province, has introduced bungalow accommodations.
Situated near the Rio Blanco Canyon, the eight new West Bungalows were designed as forest hideaways by architecture firm Studio Saxe and interior designer Dania Saragovia.
The accommodations boast a sophisticated yet understated layout. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by an 170-square-foot open-air entrance terrace complete with a hammock, table, and chairs.
At the opposite end of the bungalow, a covered terrace hosts a double outdoor shower and an oversized tub, where guests can bathe in water from the surrounding mineral hot springs.
Inside, the West Bungalows exude a sense of luxury thanks to a stylish bedroom, lounge area, and modern bathroom adorned with handcrafted details and local artwork in sustainably farmed hardwoods. Approximately 90 percent of the materials used were sourced directly from Costa Rica, including a curated coffee station with locally sourced Costa Rican brews and a handmade traditional chorreador coffee maker.
The West Bungalows are an addition to Rio Perdido’s 30 existing stilted bungalows, which are tucked away amid 20 miles of walking, running, cycling trails, a thermal river, and bathing pools.
