AUTOGRAPH COLLECTION OPENS IN INDONESIA: Autograph Collection Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s global portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands, has expanded its footprint in Indonesia with the opening of Cicada Resort Bali Ubud, Autograph Collection. Located in the natural sanctuary and heritage area of Sebatu, the retreat is located about 10 minutes from the Tegallalang Rice Fields. The resort’s design has been inspired by a blend of Balinese and modern design reflecting Sebatu’s artistry. The resort features 20 suites with valley views and 10 pool villas, each offering a wellness-focused experience. There are plans to add 15 more rooms in the coming years. Amenities include an outdoor pool, a restaurant, pool lounge and bar, fitness center and a spa. Currently, Autograph Collection’s portfolio includes 320 independent hotels in about 50 countries.
RADISSON EXPANDS AUSTRALIA PRESENCE: Radisson Hotel Group has signed Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton, marking the brand’s first property in Australia. Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter, the hotel is located in the Parkville suburb and surrounded by universities, hospital precincts, recreation centers and leisure attractions. An existing hotel was rebranded to open under the Park Inn flag and will be renovated and redesigned ahead of its opening. The hotel features 89 rooms, a gym, pool, an all-day dining restaurant, grab-and-go café and two meeting rooms. Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will be Radisson’s third hotel in Australia and fifth property in Australasia, with more hotels under construction across the region.
U.S. PERFORMANCE UPDATE: The U.S. hotel industry reported positive comparisons YOY, according to data by CoStar through August 24.

Among the top 25 markets, Houston witnessed the highest YOY occupancy lift (+31.7% to 76.1%). Driven by the Democratic National Convention, Chicago saw the largest lifts in ADR (+41.8% to $215.60) and RevPAR (+51.1% to $156.32). The market’s occupancy increased 6.5% to 72.5%. The steepest RevPAR declines were seen in Las Vegas (-14.2% to $112.09) and Nashville (-11.3% to $96.11).
CHOICE HOTELS’ FIRST CONTRACT UNDER SOAR: Choice Hotels International, Inc. has announced its inaugural contract under the recently relaunched SOAR (Supporting Ownership Access and Representation) program, which aims to create hotel ownership opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs. Damon Healey of Eternal Companies executed a contract to convert two hotels in Georgia to Suburban Studios, an extended-stay brand under Choice. The two properties — Suburban Studios Columbus Bradley Park and Suburban Studios Macon North — opened on May 30. Last year, Choice’s Emerging Markets program, now SOAR, executed 28 new franchise contracts, including with African American, Hispanic, Native American, veteran and women entrepreneurs. This included nine contracts with African American hotel owners and 17 contracts with women owners through the HERtels by Choice program.
