WYNDHAM BRINGS REGISTRY COLLECTION TO THE U.S.: Wyndham has introduced its Registry Collection Hotels in the U.S. with the opening of The Mining Exchange, a Registry Collection Hotel. The former Mining Exchange has been renovated and transformed to open as the 128-room lifestyle hotel in downtown Colorado Springs. An icon in Colorado since 1902, the Mining Exchange was home to the stock exchange for gold and silver sourced from the Rockies. The hotel features multiple dining venues, a full-service space, an onsite art gallery and 15,000 square feet of event and wedding space. The reimagined hotel is managed by Practice Hospitality. Launched in 2021, Registry Collection Hotels’ portfolio has grown to include more than 20 hotels worldwide, with 10 more properties in the pipeline.
DRURY HOTELS EXPANDS IN THE CAROLINAS: Drury Hotels, the Missouri-based service-oriented hospitality company, has announced a new hotel in Charleston, S.C. The new property, offering 252 rooms, is currently under construction and is Drury’s second hotel in South Carolina and the seventh across the Carolinas. The new Drury Plaza Hotel is situated off I-26 and about three miles from the Charleston International Airport. The hotel will offer complimentary hot breakfast, a kitchen and bar, business and fitness centers, an outdoor pool and a spa. The Drury Plaza Hotel North Charleston will also have 3,600 square feet of meeting space to accommodate up to 400 guests. Drury’s portfolio currently includes more than 150 hotels across 26 states.
RIU PALACE BAVARO REOPENS: RIU Hotels & resorts has reopened the Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana, following a watershed refurbishment. The Riu Naiboa, located on an adjoining plot, was demolished and Riu Palace Bavaro has spread over the site of the former hotel to add new spaces for facilities. The hotel has a family area with water and outdoor activities, F&B venues, an exclusive area for Elite Club members and a new food court. Out of the hotel’s 994 rooms, 255 are designed for families and groups of friends, while 108 rooms will be allocated for Elite Club customers (of which 60 have a private pool). The resort now has 32 places to eat, besides its existing amenities and services.
IHG’S VIGNETTE COLLECTION VENTURES INTO THE MALDIVES: IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Roxy-Pacific Holdings Pte Ltd. to introduce its Vignette Collection brand in the Maldives. The conversion agreement will see Noku Maldives, Vignette Collection joining IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in December, following refurbishments. Located in Noonu Atoll, the hotel features 30 overwater villas and 20 beachfront villas, many of which have a private pool. The property includes two restaurants and bars, an outdoor pool, a fitness center, spa, retail outlet and a diving and watersports center. The hotel marks IHG’s fifth property in the Maldives. The hotel’s conversion adds to IHG’s conversion activity in the first half of the year, accounting for 41% of openings and 55% of signings worldwide.
