MONTEREY BEACH HOTEL OPENS: Ascendant Capital Partners has partnered with Highgate and Centerbridge Partners to announce the opening of Monterey Beach Hotel, a Marriott Tribute Portfolio hotel in Monterey, Calif. Originally built in 1967, the property has reopened under its original name following a renovation and rebranding process. The hotel’s design transformation was led by Los Angeles-based Indidesign. The only beachfront hotel in the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey Beach Hotel features 192 rooms, including four suites, most of which offer ocean views. The hotel includes three dining options, a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and more than 7,500 square feet of meeting and event spaces, along with 32,500 square feet of private beach. Monterey Beach Hotel is managed by Highgate.

SPARK BY HILTON CHECKS IN CANADA: Hilton and JM Hospitality Inc. have debuted the Spark by Hilton brand in Canada with the opening of Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham in Markham, the tech and business hub 28 kilometers north of Toronto. The 72-key hotel features a business center and EV charging stations. Spark, the conversion-only brand, opened its inaugural hotel in Mystic, Conn. in September 2023 and launched in Europe with the Spark by Hilton London Romford in May. The brand currently has 50 open hotels and has more than 275 properties in the global pipeline. Spark by Hilton Toronto Markham joins eight more Spark hotels in various stages of construction across Canada. Hilton is aiming to expand its Canadian portfolio by 50% in the next five years and has a portfolio of over 180 hotels, with a development pipeline of 100 hotels in various stages of development.

DOLCE BY WYNDHAM BREAKS GROUND IN MIAMI: Glokal Group has partnered with Blue Road to announce the ground breaking of Dolce by Wyndham Miami, the partners’ latest venture in South Beach. The $40 million, new-build hotel is located in James Avenue in the Art Deco District. The hotel will offer 90 rooms and a business center. The hotel is expected to open in 2026.

CHOICE EXPANDS UPSCALE PORTFOLIO: Choice Hotels International, Inc. has expanded its upscale portfolio with the opening of the Radisson Hotel Fairview Heights – St. Louis in Fairview Heights, Ill. The four-story, 119-room hotel is located near the downtown and offers easy access to popular attractions. The hotel features a heated indoor pool and an onsite bar and restaurant.
