For the ultimate 360-degree African safari experience, pair a sophisticated stay in Cape Town (pictured below) with an off-grid luxury escape in the Okavango Delta. This year, Atzaró Group has launched two stunning new properties, Atzaró Cape Town and Atzaró Okavango designed to complement one another and create the ultimate African odyssey.

Begin your journey with a direct flight to the mother city, where you can check into the newly opened Atzaró Cape Town, an intimate small luxury hotel set at the foot of Table Mountain. This stylish contemporary retreat offers breathtaking panoramic views over the city bowl and Table Mountain, providing the perfect setting to unwind after a long-haul flight and to explore the wonders of the Cape.  After a few days of discovering this vibrant city, continue your journey with a short flight to Botswana.

From there, a private helicopter will be waiting to whisk you to Atzaró Okavango, a secluded safari camp just a 30-minute flight from Maun Airport. Embrace the wild beauty of the Okavango Delta in luxurious comfort, completing an unforgettable African adventure.

Atzaró Okavango Camp, the latest high-end launch from the renowned Ibiza-based Atzaró Group, opened in 2024 and sets a new standard for a luxury safari in Botswana. This stunning off-grid oasis marries the old-fashioned glamour and allure of a classic safari experience with modern principles of conservation, sustainability, and authenticity. Positioned in a private concession at the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Atzaró Okavango Camp offers exclusive access to one of the world’s most iconic wildlife areas. This remarkable location ensures absolute privacy and immersion in nature, while the camp’s luxurious accommodation and thoughtful service provide an unparalleled safari experience. Guests can embark on guided game drives with expert trackers, spotting elephants, hippos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the rare African wild dog, among other incredible wildlife.

Evoking the romance of a bygone era, Atzaró Okavango Camp captures the essence of Africa’s wild beauty in an opulent setting, with an emphasis on personalised game-viewing experiences free from the crowds often found in other destinations. With 1,100 square kilometres of unspoiled wilderness to explore, this intimate safari retreat is a sanctuary for discerning travellers seeking both adventure and tranquility.

Located between the Moremi Game Reserve and the Gomoti Plains this area is widely recognised as one of the most exclusive and wildlife-rich regions in all of Africa. Atzaró Okavango Camp has partnered with African Bush Camps, a world-renowned provider of extraordinary wildlife and safari experiences, ensuring only the best local bush knowledge and highly skilled local guiding expertise.

There are 12 romantic suites, eight stand-alone, plus two private villas containing two suites each, all with plunge pools and elevated ‘star beds’ for the ultimate starry sky views at night. An adjoining private viewing deck is the perfect spot for relaxing sundowners. Interiors feature parquet flooring, mid-century furnishings and antiques, the feel is a vintage and relaxed mix, with luxurious African textiles, Turkish rugs canopied king-size beds and antique writing desks. The suites and villas overlook the majestic lagoon and wildlife-filled waterways. All accommodation has air conditioning, heating for chilly mornings, high-speed wi-fi, en-suite bathrooms, outdoor bath and shower for a true African bush experience.

During their stay, guests will enjoy the finest hospitality, with infused cocktails from the Palm Bar, an exquisite fine dining area, a fire-lit boma, a curated art gallery and boutique, and a wine cellar. The camp’s unique wellness offering includes a state-of-the-art gym, yoga shala and an indulgent spa area with rejuvenating treatments. Guests can partake in sommelier-led wine tastings, and high-tea served on the observation deck. Cocktails and champagne can be enjoyed at the 20-meter-long pool adjacent to the lagoon, where hippos and elephants become constant companions.  An Ancestral Boma area provides a sacred space dedicated to the region’s past generations – the perfect space for delicious sundowners before a thrilling safari night drive into the bush.

The Okavango Delta has been described as the ‘last paradise’ and is a year-round odyssey. With two distinct seasons, this abundant landscape is a paradise for nature enthusiasts all year. During the dry season, the annual flood water arrives, enticing animals and birds to this pristine aquatic ecosystem. During the dry winter months, elephants traverse to remote islands, where there are concentrated animal sightings on the water. In the wet season (the emerald season), migratory birds descend from the north and herbivores give birth in droves, luring carnivores into the area to hunt and feed. A safari at this time of the year promises dramatic afternoon thunderstorms and balmy evenings, vibrant birdlife, bright night skies for star gazing and rejuvenated landscapes for vivid photographic safaris.

Activities include comfortable private guided game drives and night drives, as well as community visits to the local area. There are guided safari hikes on foot, helicopter safaris, bush dining, open-air cinema, photography safaris, stargazing, fishing and dug-out mokoro canoe expeditions.  For families, there are a raft of children’s activities to enjoy.

Encouraging longer stays of 5 days or more, the Atzaró Okavango Camp invites guests to fully relax amidst the wildlife and immerse themselves in the soothing sounds of nature. Guests are invited to indulge in the wellness facilities, following their existing or new routines, rejuvenate, and settle into one of the world’s last untouched wildernesses. Each private villa is equipped with its own vehicle and ranger, available for sunrise and sunset game drives.

Conservation and Sustainability

Atzaro Okavangó is involved in important projects in the area to rejuvenate the natural habitat and support the fragile ecosystems. In partnership with African Bush Camps and the African Bush Camp Foundation The camp also works with anti-poaching patrols to safeguard the diverse wildlife found in the surrounding areas to prevent illegal hunting and protect endangered species. During the building phase of Atzaró Okavango, the conservation of existing trees on the site was paramount. There is an on-site solar farm, featuring cutting-edge solar photovoltaic technology with lithium-ion battery storage.  All the water used at the lodge undergoes purification via a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis treatment plant and then the water is re-mineralised. The camp also operates with sustainable practices, from reducing plastic waste to utilising renewable energy sources as well as on-site organic matter waste composition of all organic kitchen waste.
