Maritim Hotels, the Germany-based hotel group, is set to open a location in Italy. Located on the coast of Calabria in southern Italy’s Villapiana, Maritim Resort Calabria is expected to open in April 2025.
The former Aldiana Club will be rebranded to open as a luxury resort under Maritim Hotels. Situated along the beach, the resort will feature 324 rooms and suites across three floors and surrounded by olive trees.
Spread across 93,000 square meters, the property will have three pools — a heated semi-Olympic pool, lagoon pool and a children’s pool. The resort will have two restaurants with terraces, three bars, an indoor theater and an onsite nightclub.
“As a Maritim Resort, we’ll continue to provide an all-inclusive experience with a wide range of sports, daytime activities, a kids’ club for children of all ages and evening shows,” said Peter Wennel, managing director of Hotel Management Services (HMS) International GmbH. HMS operates as part of the Maritim Group.
The resort will have a range of sports, including tennis, water sports, golf, cycling and fitness programs. Sports enthusiasts can access seven clay tennis courts, a multi-purpose court for basketball and volleyball, football pitch, boccia court, bicycle station, an archery range and a 325-square-meter indoor fitness area. A highlight for water sports enthusiasts is the Nautical Center, which will have three catamarans and a dozen sailing dinghies.
The 4,000-square-meter wellness center will have a Turkish bath, three saunas, an ice room, a hydromassage pool with a relaxation area, massage and treatment rooms and an exclusive spa suite with a hydromassage whirlpool, sauna, relaxation loungers and hammam area.
Situated on a hill overlooking the Sibari plain, Villapiana is an inhabited village in the upper Ionian Sea. Mostly considered an untouched region of Italy, Calabria is an ideal destination for culture and nature lovers.
Founded in 1969, Maritim Hotels’ portfolio includes hotels across Mauritius, Egypt, Malta, Italy, Bulgaria, Albania and China.
