Sina Hotels to expand Milan property

Italy’s Sina Hotels has won a €43-million tender to develop and renovate the historic Galleria Ciro Fontana, currently occupied by the Municipality of Milan. This project will add 30 rooms, a wellness center and a new restaurant to Sina The Gray, a five-star hotel located near the Duomo. This expansion will more than double the hotel’s room count from 21 rooms and suites to over 52.

Founded in 1958 by Count Ernesto Bocca, Sina Hotels operates a collection of 11 luxury hotels across Italy. Sina The Gray, which opened in 2003, is the brand’s second property in Milan, following Sina De La Ville, located just 300 feet away. This new expansion will increase the hotel’s space by more than 21,500 square feet.

The expanded hotel will include rooms and suites with views of the iconic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. A new wellness spa with bespoke treatment rooms, a fitness center and a panoramic restaurant will complement the additional guest rooms. The restaurant will offer Italian cuisine paired with views of the city skyline.

The phased renovation, expected to break ground in January 2026, is scheduled for completion in 2027. The hotel’s architect, Guido Ciompi, known for designing the Sina Centurion Palace in Venice and the Sina Bernini Bristol in Rome, will oversee the expansion. Sina The Gray’s original location will also be renovated to match the new addition.

Sina Hotels is known for blending Italian craftsmanship with luxury guest experiences. With properties in some of Italy’s most desirable destinations, including Rome, Florence, Venice and Milan, the brand continues to focus on enhancing its portfolio. This new project will be a part of a larger strategy aimed at strengthening the company’s presence in Milan and throughout Italy.

The Galleria Ciro Fontana, where the new development will take place, is a landmark building in Milan. The expansion will bring additional accommodations to a city that is a key global business hub and tourism destination. Milan’s thriving hospitality market has attracted significant investment in recent years, further highlighting the importance of this project.

Once complete, Sina The Gray will offer more luxurious amenities, catering to business and leisure travelers alike. Guests will have access to a wellness center, fitness facilities and exceptional dining experiences. The hotel will also provide easy access to Milan’s cultural landmarks, shopping districts and business centers.

With this new expansion, Sina Hotels is positioned to further solidify its reputation as a key player in Italy’s luxury hospitality market.
