Famed Viennese design hotel reopens as Radisson Blu Das Triest Hotel, Vienna after a comprehensive renovation, marking the revitalization of one of the city’s most iconic design hotels. Located in the heart of the city, this new property strengthens the footprint of Radisson in the Austrian capital.
A historic venue reimagined
Originally opened in 1995 as Vienna’s first design hotel, Radisson Blu Das Triest Hotel has long been celebrated for its distinctive architecture and rich history. The building, which once served as a post station between Vienna and Trieste during the Austrian Empire, has now been transformed, while maintaining the essence of its heritage.
“The renovation has been a labor of love, aiming to preserve the hotel’s historic charm while introducing modern comforts,” says Elisabeth Boyer, General Manager of the Radisson Blu Das Triest Hotel.
The hotel is situated on the historic Wiedner Hauptstraße, a central location in Vienna’s vibrant 4th district. Guests are within walking distance to Karlsplatz and the Inner City, with easy access to iconic landmarks like the Stephansdom. The prime location offers travelers an ideal base to explore Vienna’s rich cultural and historical sites.
A blend of heritage and modernity
The 120 rooms and suites at the hotel reflect a combination of the hotel’s original minimalist design and modern elements. Some rooms retain the clean lines that define its early identity, while others have been renovated to align with the Radisson Blu brand’s contemporary style.

A major highlight of the reopening is Bistrot Bertarelli 1894, a restaurant offering a blend of classic Italian dishes with modern twists. Guests can dine on the terrace at Rilkeplatz, enjoying the view while savoring regional cuisine made with local ingredients.
The hotel’s Silver Bar, an iconic gathering spot for both celebrities and visitors, has been restored to its former glory. The bar extends into the inner courtyard during the warmer months.
Radisson Blu Das Triest Hotel offers a wide range of amenities, including a fitness center, sauna, and a spacious terrace. Business travelers can benefit from five conference rooms, which can host up to 284 attendees, making it a prime location for meetings and events.
