This year, the stands at Roland Garros welcomed 685,000 spectators over the 3 weeks of the tournament, 10,000 more than last year, an all-time record for the event since its creation. The popularity of major sporting events continues to grow year after year, as demonstrated by the Champions League final in Munich on 31 May.

According to Roland-Garros tournament director Amélie Mauresmo, French tenniswoman Loïs Boisson’s run to the semi-finals ‘helped raise the profile’ of the 2025 event. The fan zone on the Place de la Concorde was also very busy, with up to 30,000 spectators in attendance.

Paris inner city: prices not keeping pace with attendance

Roland Garros 2025 (Paris) par Hospitality ON 

The record attendance at Roland Garros was reflected in the performance of the Paris hotel industry, with an occupancy rate of 88.5%, an increase of 5.1 points. The highlight was the opening day, when the occupancy rate rose by 22%.

The only drop in occupancy occurred between 26 and 28 May inclusive, before an upturn on Thursday 29 when Ascension Day fell this year. The fact that the last bank holiday in May was held greatly benefited the event.

Nevertheless, the results are somewhat less positive in terms of prices, with the average daily rate down by 2.3% over the tournament as a whole. Although prices had risen by around 10.7% at the start of the tournament, the indicator quickly slipped into the red and has not risen since.
