This 60-room property, which opened in late May, is strategically positioned to meet the growing demand for premium accommodations in the region.
“It is with great enthusiasm that we open Delta Hotels by Marriott Açores. This opening represents not only a strategic step for Marriott International, but also a new premium hospitality proposition for those visiting São Miguel,” – Filipe Frias, General Manager of Delta Hotels by Marriott Açores.
The hotel is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering a blend of contemporary comfort and the natural beauty of the island. Many rooms feature panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and volcanic landscapes. Facilities include a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a spa, a gym, and versatile meeting spaces to host corporate events and conferences. Moreover the hotel boasts the « Grill & View » restaurant, which is focused mainly on local flavors with a contemporary touch, as well as the “Oceanic Bar & Lounge”.
Marriott continues to expand its presence in Portugal and Spain with several key developments. The company is set to open its sixth The Luxury Collection hotel in Spain, reinforcing its position in the luxury segment. In Portugal, Marriott is further enhancing its footprint with the upcoming JW Marriott Algarve Palmares Hotel & Spa scheduled to open in Lagos in 2028. Additionally, Marriott is expanding its portfolio in the Algarve region with two new properties, solidifying its presence in one of Europe’s most sought-after destinations. These expansions reflect Marriott’s ongoing strategy to diversify and grow its offerings in key Iberian markets.
This opening is part of Marriott’s broader expansion plan in Portugal, which includes several new projects, particularly in the Algarve. The hotel chain aims to further increase its presence in Europe with plans to add approximately 100 properties by the end of 2026.
