On a recent interview with the “Handelsblatt”, Dieter Müller, the founder and chairman of the supervisory board of Motel One, announced that he is considering acquisitions of individual hotels and entire hotel portfolios to accelerate its international presence.

The expansion will primarily focus on Europe and the United States, regions where Motel One already has an important presence, including in cities like Paris, Madrid, and New York. Thirty new locations are already planned, and further acquisitions may follow.

In addition to the international growth, Dieter Müller, announced on the interview with Handelsblatt, that Motel One plans to expand its footprint in Germany, where the company sees continued potential in the domestic market.

Moreover, Dieter Müller highlighted that Motel One’s growth strategy involves a mix of new construction and acquisitions, particularly in medium-sized cities where demand for business-friendly accommodations is growing. Moreover, the company will maintain its budget-friendly model while focusing on supply and demand, similar to the airline industry. The goal is to ensure that Motel One’s rooms remain accessible at competitive prices, with rates starting at €100, but subject to market conditions.

Concerning its recent expansion in Europe, Motel One maintained its focus on the presence in key cities. A recent highlight is the opening of Motel One Paris-Porte de Versailles, marking the brand’s second hotel in the French capital. This addition underscores the company’s growth ambitions in France, where it plans to further establish itself in major urban areas.

The expansion plans are further supported by a new partnership with PAI Partners, which has acquired an 80% stake in Motel One, becoming the majority shareholder. This collaboration provides the hotel chain with the financial backing needed to accelerate its international growth, including expanding in markets such as the UK, Portugal, and beyond. The strategic partnership is expected to fuel Motel One’s next phase of development, enhancing its footprint both in Europe and in the United States.

Motel One’s expansion strategy focuses on both domestic and international growth, while the partnership with PAI Partners enables Motel One to scale its operations.
