Hotelogix

BahamaGo, a leading travel agent and official reseller partner of Hotelogix in The Bahamas since 2015, has become a pivotal force in managing reservations for over 40 small independent hotels across the archipelago. Leveraging Hotelogix’s cloud-based Property Management System (Hotel PMS), BahamaGo ensures real-time booking management for seamless coordination of reservations from various channels—online travel agencies, direct bookings, and global distributors centrally. It translates into improved efficiency, reduced errors, time savings, and enhanced occupancy levels for a diverse portfolio of boutique and owner-operated properties.

Whether it is a boutique retreat on the turquoise shores of Long Island or a family-run villa on Cat Island, BahamaGo uses Hotelogix to oversee bookings, manage inventory, and ensure smooth communication between guests and hotels. With one system powering multiple properties, they have eliminated the inefficiencies of manual reservation tracking and siloed communication, freeing up hotels to do what they do best – serve guests.

The independent hotel landscape

Conservative estimates place the number of genuinely small and independent properties in The Bahamas between 350-400 as of 2025. These properties are primarily located throughout Eleuthera, Harbor Island, Andros, Cat Island, and Abaco, with significant clusters also in Nassau and New Providence. They contribute immensely to the nation’s tourism fabric by providing authentic, personalized experiences distinct from chains and groups.

BahamaGo & Hotelogix: Helping hotels drive sales

According to Tony Hanna, COO of BahamaGo, this segment remains largely under-digitized, with many of them still relying on legacy systems or manual operations.

With Hotelogix, we are not only modernizing their internal reservation workflows but also providing these independent hotels with access to cloud-native, enterprise-grade technology that was once only accessible to larger chains.

Additionally, Tony and his team access property-specific reports, including the reservation report and occupancy report, to ensure each property captures optimum bookings and drives revenue.

Tourism growth fuels demand

The Bahamas welcomed about 11.22 million international tourists in 2024, the highest so far. It represented about a 16.2% increase over 2023 and a staggering 54.7% jump from pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Correspondingly, hotels across the islands achieved an average occupancy rate of approximately 70.6% in 2024, underscoring strong travel demand and increased tourism activity fueling the local economy.

For independent hotel owners/operators with small teams and limited infrastructure, the tourism boom brings as much pressure as it does potential. Without real-time and centralized inventory control, managing booking spikes becomes unsustainable. BahamaGo, backed by Hotelogix, has changed this equation. It has given its network of hotels the tools to operate without stress by automating reservations, updating availability across channels instantly, and offering direct insights into performance.

What does the future hold for independent hotels?

Independent hotels in The Bahamas are well-positioned for sustained growth as travelers are increasingly seeking authentic and culturally rich experiences, preferring these to the cookie-cutter stays offered by chains. However, with properties spread across various locations and facing fluctuating demand, as well as evolving guest expectations, manual reservation management presents significant operational challenges.

This shift also creates new opportunities for independent properties, but they must have the right tool to capture this demand effectively. This is where BahamaGo, in partnership with Hotelogix, plays a vital role by helping them grab their share of business, leading to more sales, occupancy, and revenue, Tony added.

According to him, most hotels on their network have seen about a 5% to 8% spike in online sales and occupancy levels year on year.

BahamaGo’s partnership with Hotelogix demonstrates how modern cloud solutions can enable independent hotels in The Bahamas to adopt digital transformation confidently. This strategic collaboration is all about empowering independent hotels to modernize their operations, enhance competitiveness, and thrive in a rapidly changing travel environment.
