British celebrity chef and restaurateur Jamie Oliver will host a series of new food experiences in London as part of a global partnership between Airbnb and the makers of Netflix’s Chef’s Table.

The initiative will see Oliver join four other chefs, including Chris Bianco in Los Angeles, Elena Reygadas in Mexico City, Atsushi Tanaka in Paris and Justin Lee in Seoul,  in offering small-scale dining events through Airbnb’s “Originals” programme.

The group’s Originals programme, launched in May, aims to compete with hotels by offering services such as room service, gyms, spas and cultural experiences.

It was rolled out in 260 cities with categories such as private chefs, fitness training, spa and beauty treatments, personal styling and catering.

Each experience will give guests the chance to explore local food culture through the chefs’ cooking and storytelling. Prices average around $200 (£146.6) per person.

The new listings add to Airbnb’s existing culinary programme, which includes experiences such as a masterclass at Shuko Oda’s Koya restaurant in London and mezcal tasting with James Beard award winner Ali Kurshat Altinsoy in Mexico City.

Dave Stephenson, chief business officer at Airbnb, said: “Together, we’re taking Chef’s Table and its signature storytelling beyond the screen and bringing it into the real world. It’s not just the best way to learn about a place’s cultural heritage through food but also to experience it with some of the most famous chefs shaping it.”

Justin Connor, president of Chef’s Table Projects, added: “Chef’s Table has been sharing important culinary stories on Netflix for the last decade, and we’ve long dreamed of finding a way for people to experience them first-hand. We’re excited to partner with Airbnb to bring this vision to life.”
