Following Hotel Granada’s successful launch last year, Design Hotels is excited to welcome the property to its portfolio as a new member hotel and the brand’s first destination in Atlanta, GA. As a member, the 120-room hotel will now participate in the Marriott Bonvoy® program, offering exclusive perks and loyalty rewards to a new global audience of lifestyle-focused travelers.

Each hand-picked, design-driven property in the collective is defined by a unique creative vision, and Hotel Granada, which combines Spanish colonial architecture, southern charm and modern craftsmanship, epitomizes this.

Originally built in 1924 as the Granada Apartments, Hotel Granada’s meticulous two-year restoration was led by developer Monomoy Property Ventures and Scarp Ridge Capital Partners.

With a white stucco façade and red-tiled roof, the historic four-story Hotel Granada is a refreshing departure from the glass-and-steel towers that dominate Midtown’s urban skyline. Architect MetroStudio and Austin-based interior designer Cameron Carr (who previously worked with Liz Lambert at Lambert McGuire Design) have embraced the building’s Spanish heritage through old-world elements such as terracotta floors and a palette of rustic greens and blues, while incorporating handcrafted wood millwork and pops of uplifting color throughout. Atlanta-linked motifs such as corridor wallpaper adorned with Crepe Myrtle blooms and Olympic torches, lend a sense of place.

Classic, comfortable rooms feature brass fixtures, velvet sofas and curated private bars while bathrooms have Grown Alchemist amenities. The Mosaic and Piedmont suites offer added space and elevated finishes. At the hotel’s heart is Pom Court, an all-day café, restaurant and bar for shared plates and elevated Southern fare, which spills out from the inviting, living room-like lobby into an open-air courtyard anchored by four majestic crepe myrtle trees. For pre-dinner cocktails or a nightcap, May Peel is a cozy, low-lit hideaway beneath the hotel, perfect for enjoying music and late night conversation.

Aligning with Design Hotels’ ethos of championing individuality and local talent, baristas serve Atlanta’s Portrait Coffee; ceramic bowls are made by homegrown potter Katie Troisi; and the art collection is a partnership with the nearby Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Works on display are by alumni including textiles artist Liz Robb, mixed-media artist Angela Burson, fine artist Juliana Lupacchino, and painters Abigail Chase Miller and Abel Macias.

In recent years, Atlanta has emerged as a cultural hub with a thriving restaurant scene and a slew of exciting new art galleries and museums. Hotel Granada is rooted in this creative community, within walking distance of landmarks such as the High Museum of Art, Atlanta Symphony Hall, and the Fox Theatre. The courtyard, meeting space and the boardroom provide opportunities for community gatherings, intimate events, and a program of workshops on everything from mindful meditation to floral arranging.
