Hi! We have three big agentic commerce announcements to share. Stripe is:
1/ powering Instant Checkout in ChatGPT
2/ releasing an open standard: Agentic Commerce Protocol, codeveloped with OpenAI
3/ shipping an API for agentic payments: Shared Payment Tokens
Let’s dive in ⤵️
Purchase where you prompt. Millions of people can now shop through ChatGPT, powered by @stripe.
– It’s fun to find products via LLM
– You can buy directly in chat from Etsy, soon Shopify, then more
– Use a saved payment method (I like Link!) or new one
– Buy in one tap
It’s built on the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) by Stripe and OpenAI
– An open standard for programmatic flows between buyers, AI agents, and businesses
– Make your checkout agent-ready
– Works with any agent, commerce platform, payment processor
A few ACP principles:
– Buyers can shop confidently, with control over purchases
– Businesses can sell via AI agents, while maintaining brand and customer relationship
– AI agents can orchestrate transactions, without being in flow of funds (business remains merchant of record)
Wait, is my raw card flinging across the internet?! No.
Introducing, @stripe Shared Payment Tokens. A way to securely pass credentials between agents and businesses.
– Agent creates a SPT scoped by amount, use, etc
– Business processes a SPT on Stripe, or a processor using ACP
With the Agentic Commerce Protocol and Shared Payment Tokens, agentic commerce is ready to go from prototype to production.

Oh, and go buy something via ChatGPT—it’s a delight!
We’ve spent the last year* iterating on agentic commerce principles and products. And this is just the start—we’ll share more updates on how @stripe is building economic infrastructure for AI tomorrow.
*The number of cat-related mugs agents have bought for me while testing—meow!
