Revolut expands travel footprint

Global fintech, Revolut, has expanded travel footprint by agreeing to terms with leading online travel platform, Booking.com.

The move expands Revolut’s travel offering for customers, allowing millions of Booking.com customers now able to pay via Revolut Pay and benefit from a range of currencies.

According to the company, ‘the partnership is a natural fit given the customer overlap between businesses’, with approximately 9 million customers from Revolut’s global user base already having made purchases on Booking.com. 

It marks a further commitment from Revolut into the travel industry as Booking.com becomes its largest travel partner to adopt Revolut Pay. This comes as the number of customers using Revolut Pay has continued to rise, now with almost 2 million monthly active users. 

Using Revolut Pay as a payment method at checkout means customers can purchase their Booking.com accommodation, with flights and cars to follow, securely. 

At the point of payment, customers are redirected from the Booking.com platform to pay in just one click through the Revolut app, streamlining the booking process and protecting purchase through Revolut’s built-in biometric security.

As an exclusive benefit, those paying with Revolut Pay earn extra RevPoints on all purchases. 

RevPoints is the first pan-European debit loyalty card programme, and points can be redeemed at thousands of merchants when checking out with Revolut Pay, including Booking.com as well as other benefits such as airline miles, stays, gift cards, experiences and more within the Revolut app.

From 17 November to 3 January, users can benefit from 10 times RevPoints on their purchases, accelerating the journey towards their next trip.

Integrating Revolut Pay means a faster, more secure, and ultimately more rewarding checkout experience for users.”

“We’re excited about this collaboration and will continue working with Revolut to explore strategic opportunities that deliver value to our millions of travelers and partners all around the world.”

To enable this new payment solution for travellers, Booking.com has adopted Revolut Business, using the system as part of its day-to-day operations.
