There is only one Hong Kong Suite because there is only one Hong Kong. A key milestone in Island Shangri-La’s multi-year renovation, the hotel proudly announces the launch of Hong Kong Suite. Rising high above the thriving city on the 50th floor, the suite offers sweeping views of Central and Victoria Harbour, giving guests a bird’s-eye view of the city’s vibrant pace.

There is much within the Hong Kong Suite that distils the special magic of the city itself. The views stir the heart and soul, revealing a cinematic sweep of landscapes and seascapes that form one of the world’s most iconic and dynamic skylines. Yet beyond its commanding outlook, there is something intrinsically ‘Hong Kong’ about the quiet luxury that the Hong Kong Suite represents – a pinnacle of understated elegance rooted deeply in its Asian heritage.

Intimate but never indulgent, the Hong Kong Suite serves as the definitive barometer for Asian contemporary hospitality where luxury is discrete. Airy and light-filled, its design channels positive feng shui as it bridges the sea and the mountains, while it reflects gentle nostalgia with nods to Hong Kong’s rich history.

Island Shangri-La: the heart of Hong Kong

Island Shangri-La sits at the very beating heart of Hong Kong. Opened in 1991, and used by generations of Hong Kongers for family celebrations, evenings out, leisurely spa days or to mark special festivals around Chinese New Year, mid-Autumn Festival, and Christmas, it is a busy hub of real city life.

A city hotel, Island Shangri-La nonetheless retains the calm feel of an urban resort – and the ongoing multi-year renovation has been thoughtfully planned to create spaces and experiences that ease the pace of city life. Recent developments include the opening of the award-winning wellness centre YUN WELLNESS, a serene sanctuary complete with a tranquil pool deck followed by the debut of the Family Floor which has redefined family travel, and Ming Pavilion, a new restaurant dedicated to the rich flavours of Hokkien cuisine.

The renovation continues apace, and the Hong Kong Suite stands as a testament to the deep sense of place each element brings to the hotel.

The Hong Kong Suite: Living Areas to Entertain

The Hong Kong Suite’s interiors are infused with a sophisticated contemporary Asian aesthetic featuring painted fabric walls, local craftsmanship, and especially commissioned works of art and antiques including 19th century paintings of traditional Hong Kong sampans acquired from Christie’s auction house.

When entering the Living Room, guests are met with the focal point of the room, the view of Hong Kong Harbour and the busy city stretching to the horizon. On the wall to the right features a full-wall textured mural depicting a historical version of the Harbour, celebrating the city’s roots as a 19th century fishing village. This double focus on the water and the sea was developed according to feng shui principles, creating a layout that welcomes good fortune into the suite itself.

Four deep, comfortable dining chairs surround the generously sized circular dining table which can be positioned to maximise spectacular city panoramas for the ultimate in dining with a view. The maxi pantry features premium amenities customised to every guests’ preferences and service by a dedicated butler.

Cutting-edge AV technology adds another thrilling dimension to the elegant, spacious living room with a 65-inch flat screen television, IPTV with mirroring function and sound bar.

Interiors: The bedroom and bathroom

The bedroom continues to highlight feng shui elements by celebrating the mountain and the greenery of Hong Kong. This magnificent bedroom is an intimate sanctuary for relaxation and self-care, with a super king-size bed and a luxurious day bed positioned by the window to allow for even more beguiling views. Above the bedhead guests are greeted by an intricate full-wall mural that reflects the lush greenery of Hong Kong’s famous Victoria Peak and Botanical Gardens.

The bedroom is complemented by a dressing room which continues the mountain theme with textured wallpaper depicting traditional Chinese lucky clouds and pines, symbolizing prosperity and longevity in Chinese culture. The wardrobes offer generous shelving and storage with ample space for couture, jewellery and accessories.

Finished in white marble, the large en-suite bathroom offers a true urban retreat filled with spa-like wellness rituals. Twin overhead rain shower heads and a heated shower bench feature in the expansive walk-in shower, while double vanities offer renowned Acqua di Parma bath amenities.

The bathroom’s tour de force is undoubtedly the polished round marble bathtub under a golden ceiling, framed by hand-cut mosaics and inspired by magnolias, a flower native to China that was once so precious they could only be owned by Chinese emperors. Here, guests can elevate their bath time ritual with the Shangri-La Signature Bath Salt, a bespoke creation from YUN WELLNESS, the property’s award-winning spa, while a built-in Bluetooth speaker and television offer immersive entertainment options.

Island Shangri-La Service

The suite’s butler is always just a call away, whether to serve a welcoming cup of Chinese tea, mix a perfect cocktail, prepare equipment for an invigorating fitness workout or draw a deeply relaxing scented bath. In-suite dining is available around the clock and draws on the hotel’s acclaimed culinary teams across different cuisines, supported by one of the city’s most acclaimed wine lists.
