Solution to help offline agents sell refund protection

Ancillary travel products company, Protect Group, has a new solution that allows any offline travel advisor or agency to sell refund protection quickly and easily, with no technical integration.

The web-based tool, Agent Platform, provides a simple way to add the company’s flagship Refund Protect service to their itineraries, opening a brand-new ancillary revenue stream.

It not only gives the agency an opportunity to earn a revenue share based on sales but also creates a mechanism to provide a commission structure for its agents to incentivise their sales activity.

The new sales channel brings significant revenue opportunities in sectors such as cruises, where over 80% of bookings are made via agents, yet where add-ons like refund protection could only be sold through an online booking flow or an API-connected software solution.

Stephen Joyce, Global Lead for Travel, Tourism and OTAs at Protect Group, said: “Offline agents are vital to the travel ecosystem, yet until now their ability to sell refund protection was dictated by the software they use.

“We built a simple, standalone platform that lets them book refund protection and copy the pre-set wording into their itineraries with ease. This means advisors can now meet the growing demand for flexibility, while earning commission on every booking.”

The Agent Platform sits within Protect Group’s Pulse Reporting Dashboard environment, enabling users to export data – including commissions – for internal reporting. The tool is currently being rolled out to selected agencies and consortia, with wider access to follow.

For online travel agencies, airlines, and hotels, the tech-driven solution seamlessly integrates into the booking flow, allowing customers to upgrade their tickets for a full refund in unforeseen circumstances beyond their control.
