First impressions matter, especially in hospitality. Long before a guest explores a city’s streets, tastes its food, or meets its people, their experience begins at check-in. That moment presents a unique opportunity: not just to welcome, but to introduce the character, language, and identity of the destination itself.
Drawing inspiration from the technology world’s iconic “Hello, World!”, a simple yet symbolic introduction to a new system, we set out to create an equally intuitive introduction to a city. The result is “Hello World” : a series of wooden fridge magnets that are doubled as key cards, designed to function as both practical hotel essentials and lasting cultural artifacts.
Each design is carved with intentional detail, from skyline contours to neighborhood references and subtle markers of local hidden gems. Rather than overwhelming the guest, the design invites curiosity, offering just enough to spark exploration and personal discovery.
Material choice plays a central role in this concept. Crafted from FSC-certified wood and developed in alignment with ISO 14068 standards, “Hello World” reflects a growing expectation for sustainability in modern hospitality. Yet its value extends beyond environmental responsibility.
Ultimately, “Hello World” is about arrival. It transforms a functional object into a meaningful first interaction, as one that quietly says, “You are here,” while encouraging guests to engage more deeply with the place they are visiting.
For hoteliers and city curators alike:
If you could highlight one overlooked landmark or hidden gem that truly represents your city, what story would you choose to tell?
