Celebrity chef Todd English (Olives, Figs) has announced a new partnership with chef Olivia Ostrow (Maison Ostrow). Together, the two chefs are forming a new global kosher hospitality group under Ostrow Global Inc., with upcoming projects planned in Miami, New York, Tel Aviv, Dubai, Paris, and London.
“Todd and I have known each other for years; with mutual respect and mutual curiosity,” Ostrow said in a statement. “I’ve always admired how he built a global culinary brand, and he was intrigued by what I was doing in Miami with modern, elevated, actually-sexy kosher cuisine.”
Under the new partnership, English joins as a creative and strategic partner of Ostrow Global Inc. and will be charged with codeveloping new concepts globally for the French English platform, which will include restaurants, catering, and lifestyle concepts.
“At some point, it just clicked — why hasn’t anyone created a chef-driven, international kosher brand with global credibility?” Ostrow continued. “That’s what we’re building.”
The hospitality group makes its debut at Maison Ostrow on Dec. 18 in Miami, offering a kosher menu of French-Mediterranean cuisine.
The flagship concept is what Ostrow describes as “refined but not snobby, Mediterranean but world-friendly” with a French menu structure of hors d’oeuvres, entrées, plats, and sharing plates.
The first collaborative dinner and press night on Dec. 18 will benefit Sharsheret, a nonprofit that support Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.
Beyond Miami, the two chefs are looking at expanding to New York City, with plans for a French-English kosher brasserie with a potential members’ club.
“If Nobu could make Japanese luxury global, French English can make kosher global,” Ostrow said in a statement. “We want people to stop saying ‘for kosher, it’s good.’ We want to prove that kosher can finally sit at the big table.”
