The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, today announced the signing of a Taj hotel in Cairo marking the brand’s debut in Egypt.
The 300-key Taj Cairo will be located at Opera Square, a district steeped in history and cultural significance in the heart of the capital. Overlooking the iconic Azbakeya Garden, one of the city’s oldest public parks, the hotel will offer verdant views in a historic urban setting. Located in the heritage zone, it is a short drive from the Nile, ensuring easy access while placing guests at the centre of Cairo’s storied past. Taj Cairo will pay homage to this legacy by retaining key elements of the historic building’s façade and its architectural character, while introducing contemporary design, world-class amenities and Taj’s signature hospitality. It will offer an all-day dining, specialty restaurants, wellness facilities as well as banqueting spaces for corporate meeting and social gatherings.
Known as the ‘City of a Thousand Minarets’, Cairo is a vibrant metropolis that serves as Egypt’s cultural, political and economic epicenter. The city is home to iconic attractions such as the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum, alongside bustling bazaars and historic mosques.
