Australia, Melbourne, Victoria.
January 27, 2025

After 18 months of delighting guests with its eclectic charm and rich history, The Motley Hotel Richmond is proud to announce its next chapter, joining the Tapestry Collection by Hilton brand. This exciting partnership marks the debut of the brand in Australia, bringing its authentic Richmond Charm to a wider audience, all while maintaining the unique personality and local flavour that has made the hotel a must-visit destination in Melbourne.

With over 139 distinctive hotels across 16 countries and territories, Tapestry Collection by Hilton offers unique and vibrant experiences. Every hotel tells its own story through its design, décor, and artwork, inspired by its locale to create a bold and stylish atmosphere. These hotels provide authentic experiences that encourage local exploration and adventure, with amenities and on-property experiences tailored to each destination.

“The addition of The Motley Hotel Richmond to our Tapestry Collection by Hilton portfolio marks an exciting milestone as we debut this stylish, upscale brand in Australia. We are on track to more than triple the number of Tapestry Collection by Hilton properties in Asia Pacific as demand for compelling and distinct lifestyle hotel offerings continue to climb across the region,” said Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “The Motley Hotel’s unique blend of history, art and modern sophistication perfectly aligns with Hilton’s commitment to offering guests authentic and memorable experiences and we look forward to sharing all that The Motley has to offer in this highly desirable destination.”

Since opening its doors, The Motley Hotel has been celebrated for its distinctly Melbourne vibe—an artistic fusion of bold design, playful textures, and a deep connection to the city’s creative heart. Rising from the historic Federation Terraces of Bridge Road, the hotel pays homage to Melbourne’s storied past, standing on the site once graced by the famed seamstress Ms. Mary Parker.

With 80 bespoke rooms, each thoughtfully curated to reflect Melbourne’s vibrant arts scene, The Motley Hotel provides a unique haven for travellers. Beyond the rooms, guests enjoy access to an array of amenities, including offsite gym access just a short stroll from the hotel, room service, and exclusive packages that reflect the local lifestyle. The hotel’s distinctive style, much like the patchwork of patterns it is named for, weaves together historical charm with modern comforts, inviting guests into a stay that feels both vibrant and nostalgic.

“The Motley Hotel is a prime example of a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, a gathering of independent hotels, each with a distinct, individually vibrant personality. Its spirited food and beverage offerings have swiftly become firm favourites with locals, and aptly capture the city’s vibrant food scene with a menu that showcases Melbourne’s seasonal produce and the finest local suppliers. Rooted in stylish design, the property also offers guests authentic experiences and prime access to further explore the surrounding locale,” said Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president, Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Hilton.

The Motley Hotel delivers an exceptional Melbourne dining experience through its standout venues: Ms Parker and Threads Rooftop Bar. Each space has swiftly become a local favourite, capturing the city’s vibrant food scene with a menu that showcases Melbourne’s rich seasonal produce and the finest local suppliers. At Ms Parker, guests are treated to a dining journey rooted in Melbourne’s culinary artistry, with each dish crafted to celebrate the region’s unique flavours. Just a few floors up, Threads Rooftop Bar provides an unforgettable open-air escape with a curated cocktail list that brings a fresh twist to classic drinks, perfect for sipping as the sun sets over the Richmond skyline.

Geoff Brady, owner, The Motley Hotel Richmond, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, said, “As a proud Richmond local, I’m thrilled that The Motley Hotel offers such a prime location for visitors. With just four tram stops to the MCG, guests can catch all the action from AFL games and major cricket matches. A short walk will take you to AAMI Park, home of the Melbourne Storm and Melbourne Victory, where rugby and soccer fans get their fix. And for tennis lovers, both Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena host the world-renowned Australian Open. These iconic venues also transform into stages for the biggest concerts and events throughout the year. It’s a prime spot for anyone wanting to experience Melbourne’s vibrant sports and entertainment culture.”

In joining the unique portfolio, The Motley Hotel Richmond, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will now be part of Hilton Honors – the award-winning guest-loyalty program for Hilton’s 24 distinct hotel brands. Hilton Honors members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of Points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount, and free standard Wi-Fi. Members also enjoy popular digital tools available exclusively through the industry-leading Hilton Honors mobile app, where Hilton Honors members can check-in, choose their room, and access their room using a Digital Key.
