Luxury hotel group Maybourne is expanding to Paris and has announced plans to open The Maybourne Saint-Germain. Slated to open in 2027, the project will transform the 17th-century Îlot Saint-Germain building into a 101-room palace-style hotel and 23 ultra-luxury branded residences — marking the first branded residences of their kind in the French capital.

Located in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés on the Rive Gauche, the development will introduce Maybourne’s signature hospitality to the city.

Sitting between Boulevard Saint-Germain and Rue Saint-Dominique, the Îlot Saint-Germain has been a Parisian landmark since the 17th century and has functioned as former defence ministry building. Maybourne’s reimagination of the building into a hotel will mark the fourth evolution of the iconic building, integrating its heritage while adding modern touches.

The Maybourne Saint-Germain is scheduled to open in 2027.

The residences will be designed by two French interior designers. Seven units will be crafted by Pierre-Yves Rochon along Rue Saint-Dominique, while the remaining 16 on Rue de l’Université will be designed by Laura Gonzalez.

The hotel will include 50 suites and 51 rooms arranged around an inner courtyard. It will also feature six dining venues, including a Japanese restaurant, a patisserie and a Salon de Thé. Guests and residents will have access to Maybourne’s new wellness and longevity brand, Surrenne, which will house one of Paris’ largest luxury spas and health clubs.

The property will also feature three pools, including a 30-meter rooftop pool and a private 25-meter pool exclusively for residents.

Paris, with its elegance and timeless style, is an ideal match for Maybourne’s vision of luxury hospitality, said Gianluca Muzzi, co-CEO of Maybourne. “Our presence in this iconic city reflects our commitment to creating elevated experiences that celebrate the local culture and our brand’s dedication to excellence.”

With this launch, Maybourne is setting its sights on Paris as a key location for future expansion, adding to its portfolio of luxury hotels in London, the French Riviera and Beverly Hills. Owned by Qatari royals Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the company currently operates six luxury hotels (four in London and one each in the French Riviera and Beverly Hills) — Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Emory, The Maybourne Beverly Hills and The Maybourne Riviera.

Maybourne is aiming to triple its portfolio in the next 10 years and have 15 to 17 properties by 2035, according to a report by Financial Times. About half of these properties will be management contract rather than ownership. Besides the Paris hotel, Maybourne is also preparing to revitalize a historic building in the U.K. and build new hotels in New York and Dubai. Aiming to expand its presence further, the company told Financial Times that it is planning to venture into Asia in future, in destinations such as Tokyo and Singapore.
