Greece: The TownHouse Mykonos, part of the luxury soft brand Elegant Hotel Collection, has been awarded a Michelin Key in the inaugural round of awards for Greece.

Michelin Key has previously been presented in countries including France, Italy, Mexico, the USA, and the UK.

Now, the Michelin Guide has extended its hotel distinction to Greece, evaluating properties across five criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, overall personality and character, value for the price, and a significant contribution to the neighbourhood or setting.

The TownHouse Mykonos is one of 14 hotels on the island to receive a Michelin Key. It features 19 rooms, suites, a rooftop lounge, and a cocktail bar.

The Mykonos TownHouse general manager Smaragda Sarlani said: “With only a handful of hotels on the island of Mykonos receiving this prestigious accolade, our Michelin Key is a testament to the dedication and passion of every member of the team. It’s an incredible honour to join our London sister hotel, Flemings Mayfair, in the inaugural Michelin Keys selection around the world.”

Catt McLeod, vice president of Elegant Hotel Collection said: “The ethos behind the Michelin Keys perfectly captures the unique spirit of hospitality that we champion at Elegant Hotel Collection, and we are delighted that The TownHouse Mykonos, one of our founding member hotels, has been recognised in this way.”

Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guides, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to present to world travellers our very first Michelin Key selection for Greece. Featuring no fewer than 68 outstanding hotels, this selection is an invitation to explore Greece, visit its historically rich areas, relax on the most beautiful coasts of the Mediterranean, Ionian and Aegean Seas, and enjoy timeless philoxenia.

“From boutique hotels and historic grand hotels located in buzzy Athens to country lodges nestled in stunning scenery; from peaceful island retreats to design properties: every hotel awarded one, two or three Michelin Keys is a gem sculpted by talented professionals. Using the Michelin Guide’s digital platforms, travellers can now filter their search and book hotels for stays that we hope will be unforgettable,” he said.
