Croatia: Real estate company Kermas Istria is set to open the Heritage & Resort Hotel Monumenti, a €85 million (£73 million) hotel in Pula.
Hotel Monumenti will feature 58 rooms, a conference hall for up to 400 guests, a wellness zone with a heated indoor pool, spa, saunas, jacuzzis, a fitness centre, and a fine-dining restaurant featuring local Istrian cuisine.
Every room in the resort will offer sea views, either overlooking Pula’s city centre and nearby beaches or toward the Brijuni National Park.
The hotel is located on the site of a former Austro-Hungarian military barracks. One wing retains the barracks’ renovated structure with 58 rooms, while a new-build glass wing offering 40 deluxe rooms and eight suites also been added.
The project includes additional plans for a 450-berth marina on the nearby island of Sv. Katarina.
Entrepreneur Danko Končar, who initiated the redevelopment, has assembled a 70-strong team to run the hotel, most of whom are local professionals from Istria. He said: “One of our main goals was to attract local talent in a time when tourism faces a shortage of skilled workers.”
While the hotel will start welcoming guests from mid-May, the official grand opening is planned for autumn.
