New feature to help hotels boost revenue streams

European cloud-based software company Mews has announced has launched a new Multicurrency feature.

Now available for customers in Europe, the feature sees Mews assist hotels in boosting their revenue streams and at the same time enabling a world-class payment experience for guests.

Multicurrency is fully embedded within Mews’ automated payments platform – requiring no complex setup and connecting seamlessly with existing online booking flows and payment terminals.

The feature gives international guests the option of paying in their preferred currency, both online and in person. Guests will benefit from seeing transparent prices and fees in a familiar currency, while hotels will boost revenue by retaining a portion of conversion fees that are usually kept by banks.

After a successful beta program involving more than 100 hotels, which saw an average guest adoption rate of 43%, Multicurrency is now being launched across European markets with a global rollout planned for later this year.

“In the past, international payments have been a pain point as guests incurred hidden bank fees, while hotels missed out on revenue from conversion fees. Multicurrency changes all of that,” said Susanne Sandler, General Manager of Fintech at Mews.

“Now, hotels benefit as they increase revenue through retaining a portion of conversion fees. The guest experience is also enhanced with a transparent process that presents the price and fees upfront in a familiar currency. That’s a win-win.”
