AC Hotel Wichita Downtown will open July 16, becoming the first AC Hotel in Kansas. The 118-room hotel is located in the former Brown/Broadway Plaza Building, a downtown Wichita landmark built in 1929.
The building, originally a commercial hub and home to the Russell Stover Candy Shop from 1932 to 1987, has been renovated while preserving its Art Deco and Classical Revival architectural elements. The new hotel retains the historic character of the structure and adds a modern interior layout.
Guestrooms follow the AC brand’s standard features, including open layouts, walk-in or roll-in showers and a suite option with pull-out sofa. Larger rooms will also be available.
The hotel will offer a daily breakfast and dinner service at the AC Lounge and Restaurant. Morning options include croissants, carved meats and cheeses, Nespresso coffee, Tazo teas and hot items such as baked cazuela with egg, cheese and prosciutto or open-face toast with scrambled egg, manchego, arugula and prosciutto. Dinner will feature tapas, craft cocktails and a full bar with a focus on gin tonics.
The property includes 2,000 square feet of meeting and event space. It also has a 24-hour fitness center equipped with cardio machines, free weights and multi-functional training equipment.
Located near INTRUST Bank Arena, The Orpheum Theatre and the Century II Convention Center, the hotel is positioned for both business and leisure travelers.
“We are beyond excited to open the doors of AC Hotel Wichita Downtown on July 16, 2025,” said Jeff Barnett, GM of AC Hotel Wichita Downtown. “This hotel represents more than just a new place to stay—it symbolizes the continued growth and revitalization of our beloved downtown. Nestled within the historic Brown/Broadway Plaza Building, our hotel honors the rich legacy of this iconic structure while introducing modern European sophistication to the heart of Wichita. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far, offering them a unique experience that reflects the spirit and vibrancy of our community.”
