Hospitality groups take to the sea

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is a prominent example of established hotel brands embracing the luxury yacht cruise market. Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is leveraging its luxury hospitality experience to offer curated experiences on the seas, as demonstrated with its partnership with Sotheby’s to host the “Masterpieces & The Mediterranean” auction voyage on its newest yacht, Luminara.

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection has unveiled an exclusive Mediterranean voyage for its guests aboard the Luminara, highlighting an artistic partnership with Sotheby’s. This seven-night journey, starting in October 2025, will explore Mediterranean ports such as Portofino, Livorno, and Mallorca, offering an unparalleled combination of luxury travel and cultural experiences.

The cruise will feature behind-the-scenes art tours, private residences, and curated cultural visits.

Orient Express ventures into luxury cruises

In a similar move, Orient Express, renowned for its luxury rail travel, is expanding its portfolio to include luxury yacht cruises with the launch of the Orient Express Corinthian. This yacht will be the largest sailing vessel in the world, and it will redefine the standards of luxury cruising.

Scheduled for its maiden voyage in June 2026, Orient Express Corinthian will initially sail in the Mediterranean and Adriatic, with plans to expand to the Caribbean.

“Orient Express Corinthian is preparing to redefine the standards of maritime travel and brings a revolution to the world of luxury cruises,” the company states

The yacht features cutting-edge technology, including a hybrid propulsion system and SolidSail rigging to reduce emissions and minimize environmental impact.

The 54 suites aboard the Corinthian, ranging from 45 to 230 square meters, offer a high level of comfort with expansive views and curated interior design. The yacht’s culinary offerings will be overseen by celebrated French chef Yannick Alléno, bringing world-class dining to the sea.

Diversification of luxury services

These hotel groups entering the luxury cruise market are capitalizing on their established reputation for high-end service while offering unique, tailored experiences on the water. The integration of art, culture, and exclusivity within these journeys provides guests with unparalleled travel experiences, and it also represents an innovative strategy for diversifying offerings and attracting affluent travelers.

The move into the luxury cruise market signifies a shift in how traditional hotel brands are adapting to evolving consumer preferences, blending the sophistication of land-based accommodations with the allure of travel at sea. B

oth the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Orient Express Corinthian aim to offer an exclusive way to experience the world, connecting travelers with rare cultural experiences while delivering the luxury and hospitality the brands are known for.

These projects demonstrate the growing intersection of hospitality and travel, as major hotel groups embrace luxury yacht cruises to create unique and compelling experiences for their clients. As the demand for immersive travel grows, hotel brands are increasingly venturing into maritime luxury to expand their offerings.
