Continued growth and market expansion
Meininger Hotels reported a positive financial year, achieving over 200 million EUR in total revenue. The company welcomed 4.5 million overnight stays, maintaining an occupancy rate of nearly 80%.
The company is focused on expanding its portfolio with several planned openings, including the first property in Spain, set to open by the end of 2025 in Barcelona, directly opposite the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via exhibition center.
“We have been growing consistently for years, and we are proud of that. We welcomed 4.5 million overnight stays, driving a robust occupancy rate of close to 80 percent. A fantastic team effort! We are continuously expanding our portfolio with a strategic focus on Europe. Alongside the new opening in Barcelona, we’re currently preparing to re-enter the UK market with a hotel in Edinburgh.” Ajit Menon, CEO of Meininger Hotels
Renovations to maintain hotel quality
Meininger is also actively investing in renovations to maintain high standards across its portfolio. The company carried out successful renovations across several properties in cities like Berlin, Munich, and Paris, with more upgrades planned for the coming year.
“Our goal is to continuously improve the Meininger portfolio and implement the current Meininger standard across all existing properties.” – Thomas Hagemann, COO at Meininger Hotels
Digital transformation driving efficiency
The company continues to drive its digital transformation, introducing systems like self-service group bookings, which allow clients to manage their reservations through dedicated interfaces. This innovation has helped reduce inquiries and streamline operations.
“We constantly analyze our guests’ needs and identify new opportunities to optimize our offerings,” said Thomas Hagemann. In 2025, the company will introduce a cloud-based HR solution, new procurement systems, and a fully digital check-in process, enhancing the guest experience and operational efficiency.
Sustainability and employee engagement
Meininger has also made strides in sustainability, with a partnership for electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Germany and a commitment to using green electricity across most of its hotels. The company is conducting a carbon footprint update in 2025 to identify further emissions reduction opportunities.
In terms of workforce development, Meininger has seen an 8% increase in employee retention in 2024. The hotel group is focused on fostering diversity, with a nearly equal gender distribution and staff representing 90 different nationalities.
As the company continues to grow, its focus remains on expanding its European footprint, renovating properties, enhancing digital systems, and improving sustainability practices. To learn more about the strategy of the brand, take a look at the interview we did with Thomas Hagemann.
