The signing underscores Hilton’s ongoing growth in the luxury and lifestyle hotel sector, following the recent milestone of the 1,000th luxury and lifestyle hotel opening globally.
The new hotel is a result of a franchise agreement between Hilton and Dominus, a real estate developer and operator. The property will be housed in a former office building on Great Tower Street, offering guests convenient access to key business and leisure destinations, including the Tower of London and St. Paul’s Cathedral. With close proximity to several underground stations, The Derby London City will cater to both business travelers and tourists seeking to explore the city.
“Curio Collection by Hilton’s continued expansion in the UK is a testament to the popularity and commercial success of our forward-thinking lifestyle brand. We’re delighted to partner with Dominus on another exciting hotel project, which will undoubtedly become a popular addition to our portfolio, offering guests an elegant but unexpected retreat that encapsulates London’s heritage, while reflecting the vibrancy of a city which was recognised as the world’s top destination for 2025.” – Nick Smart, vice president, development, UK, Ireland and the Nordics, Hilton
The 237-room hotel, including 10 suites, will feature contemporary design elements while maintaining a connection to the city’s history, particularly its banking district. The hotel will also feature Rycrofte’s, an all-day dining restaurant and bar inspired by historical figures, along with other amenities such as a 24-hour gym, meeting rooms, and private dining spaces.
“As owners and operators of Lost Property St Paul’s we knew we could leverage our expertise, in partnership with Hilton, to deliver another Curio Collection hotel in a prime location. Since we acquired the site on Great Tower Street in 2023, we’ve taken a sustainable design approach to refurbishing and upgrading the existing building, to create a hotel that pays tribute to the past and offers an exceptional guest experience in the heart of London. The Derby is an excellent addition to our growing hotel portfolio, and we look forward to welcoming guests in early 2026.” – Preet Ahluwalia, chief executive officer, Dominus
The new hotel will contribute to the City of London Corporation’s “Destination City” growth strategy, aimed at positioning the Square Mile as a leading global business and leisure hub.
“The City of London’s new hotel stock will play a major role in realising the ‘Destination City’ growth strategy, by helping to accommodate the rapidly rising numbers of visitors and workers coming to the Square Mile, every day. I’d like to issue a warm welcome to Dominus’ and Hilton’s ‘The Derby London City Hotel’ which I’m confident will make a fantastic contribution to the City’s business, leisure and cultural appeal, for everyone.” – Chairman of the City of London Corporation Planning and Transportation Committee, Tom Sleigh
As part of the Hilton portfolio, guests will benefit from the Hilton Honors loyalty program, offering rewards and exclusive benefits for members.
But it needs to be noted that Hilton continues to expand its footprint in the UK with several strategic openings. The Hampton by Hilton brand is set to debut at London Heathrow with the upcoming launch of Hampton by Hilton London Heathrow Bath Road, complementing Hilton’s existing portfolio at Europe’s busiest airport. In East London, Hilton has also introduced Hampton by Hilton London Old Street, further strengthening its presence in key locations. Additionally, Hilton is set to debut its Motto by Hilton brand in the UK with the opening of Motto by Hilton Glasgow in Autumn 2024, marking a significant expansion of the brand in Europe. These developments reflect Hilton’s ongoing commitment to growth in the UK market, catering to a diverse range of traveler needs across its brands.
