HOTREC
Statement

Following overwhelming demand from hoteliers across Europe, the deadline to register for the collective action against Booking.com has been extended until 29 August 2025.

Over 10.000 hotels have already joined the pan-European initiative to claim compensation for financial losses caused by Booking.com’s use of illegal “best price” (parity) clauses. The legal action, supported by HOTREC and more than 30 national hotel associations, is open to all eligible hotels – at no cost and with no risk.

Why is the deadline extended?
The extension allows more hotels to join the action during the busy summer season. Registration continues to grow steadily, and the response so far demonstrates the hospitality industry’s strong desire to stand up against unfair practices in the digital marketplace.

What’s the case about?
The legal action, brought before the Dutch courts by the Hotel Claims Alliance Foundation, follows the European Court of Justice ruling of 19 September 2024, which found that Booking.com’s parity clauses violated EU competition law. The goal is to secure redress for hotels that were harmed financially.

How to join:
Hotels can register at www.mybookingclaim.com – it’s simple, free of charge, and risk-free.

“European hoteliers have long suffered from unfair conditions and excessive costs. Now is the time to stand together and demand redress. This joint initiative sends a clear message: abusive practices in the digital market will not be tolerated by the hospitality industry in Europe.” said Alexandros Vassilikos, President of HOTREC.

“The collective action has received overwhelming support. Extending the registration deadline will ensure that all interested hotels have a fair chance to participate, despite it being peak season.” added Marie Audren, Director General of HOTREC.
