A strategic move to drive direct bookings and deepen customer loyalty in the U.S.

Aug 7, 2025

Booking.com has quietly introduced its first U.S. credit card, the Genius Rewards Visa Signature, designed to encourage direct bookings and strengthen its position in the competitive U.S. travel market. Rather than traditional points, the card offers travel credits and ties directly into Booking.com’s Genius loyalty program.

Key takeaways

  • New U.S. credit card launch: Booking.com’s Genius Rewards Visa Signature Card debuts in the U.S. with a soft launch.
  • Travel credits instead of points: Cardholders earn travel credits valued at $1 each, redeemable on Booking.com purchases.
  • High earning rates for direct bookings: Users get 6% back in travel credits on hotel and rental bookings via the app, and 5% on other travel services booked on Booking.com.
  • No annual fee and loyalty perks: The card has no fee and automatically enrolls users into Genius tier 3, offering discounts, upgrades, and priority support.
  • Bonus incentives: $150 in travel credits for $1,500 spent in the first 90 days; $100 bonus annually for $15,000 in spend.
  • Broader U.S. strategy: The card is part of Booking.com’s ongoing effort to increase direct traffic and gain ground in the U.S. market.
  • Still unannounced: While not formally launched, Booking.com confirmed the card and its features in response to media inquiries.
