The lease of the Lion Hotel and Restaurant in Berriew, Wales has been brought to market with an annual rent asking price of £40,000.

Created and owned by artist Andrew Logan and Michael Davis, the “unique” 17th Century boutique hotel has seven en suite bedrooms and is located in the village of Berriew in Montgomeryshire.

Housed within a 400-year-old building with a “stunning” restored Jacobean exterior, the hotel and restaurant offers three dining areas: the Blue Restaurant and Red Room, which serve afternoon tea and dinner, and a traditional lounge.

The property “blends old-world charm and modern sophistication decorated with artworks and creates a lavish, welcoming environment”.

Above the dining spaces, there are seven individually designed, colourful en suite bedrooms, each featuring bespoke artworks by sculptor Logan as well as modern, high-spec bathrooms. There is also a two-bedroom manager’s accommodation.

Logan and Davis created the hotel and restaurant in 2018 and are now looking to hand it over to a chef or restaurateur.

The art hotel is a sister company to the Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture, also in the village.

Davis and Logan said: “We created this wonderful jewel of an ‘Art Hotel’ in glorious Montgomeryshire in 2018, and after eight years we have decided to step away and offer a rare opportunity for an original chef/patron to make a name for themselves, be their own boss and to take the business forward to incredible new heights.”

James Dodd, business agent at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, added: “We’re delighted to bring the Lion Hotel and Restaurant to market. It’s a truly unique opportunity in the heart of mid-Wales, blending historic charm with striking contemporary design, and it offers a ready-made platform for a passionate chef or hospitality operator to create a destination venue.

“We’re confident it will attract strong interest from ambitious operators looking to make their mark in one of Wales’ most picturesque villages.”
