Skyscanner has announced its global partnership with Turo, the world’s largest car sharing marketplace, to offer users a greater selection of cars for trips.

It is now live in the UK, US, Canada and Australia, with Turo vehicle inventory being offered directly to Skyscanner users via their site.

Users can book from Turo’s selection of more than 1,600 makes and models from a network of hosts in over 16,000 cities.

So far Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz are the most popular in the UK, with the most booked UK destinations being booked are airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Manchester.

With a host’s permission, cars on Turo can also be driven across to Europe, further extending the trip.

For Australians experiencing winter down under, some of the most booked cars so far this season include the Toyota HiAce and Kia Carnival.

The top Aussie pick-up destinations are airport suburbs, such as Mascot (which includes Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport) and Melbourne Airport.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Skyscanner to make booking the perfect car as seamless as finding the right flight or hotel,” said Rory Brimmer, managing director of Turo UK.

“This partnership will provide new and existing customers a convenient way to book cars that match their trip, whether that’s a budget-friendly ride, a roomy SUV, or something a little more special.”

Kacper Trela, senior commercial manager at Skyscanner, said: “We love putting the best travel options in front of our travellers – and what Turo offers definitely ticks that box!

“With over 160m users a month coming to our travel search sites, Turo is going to be able to tap into great global demand.

“We are so happy to have Turo onboard our metasearch platform which offers accurate, up-to-date and transparent pricing across flights, hotels and car so that our travellers can search for their perfect trip.”
