USA, Carolina Beach, North Carolina.
August 27, 2025

Newly renovated with sustainability in mind, the Oceaneer Hotel opens its doors to guests at 1621 Lake Park Blvd S, just steps from the sun-kissed waves of Carolina Beach, NC.

The Oceaneer Hotel stands as a chic sanctuary along the vibrant North Carolina coast-blending bright, contemporary accommodations with a deep appreciation for the vulnerable beach eco-systems. Dedicated to its mission as “the boutique hotel that loves the beach back,” the hotel renovation was completed with a sustainability-forward mindset that includes preserving the hotel’s original structure and eco-friendly comforts and amenities.

Each of the 26 rooms features a 45″ Smart TV and eco-friendly touches like a Rocco fridge, which is renowned for longevity and low-energy consumption, as well as complimentary Tayst coffee, an ethically sourced coffee that is packaged in biodegradable pods. For family travelers, The Oceaneer Hotel also offers two suites that accommodate up to six guests. Other on-site amenities include an expansive pool, a well-equipped fitness center, new beach-cruiser bikes, extra gardens and seating areas, and an on-site market stocked with locally made provisions.

Full renovation of the property was completed on June 27, 2025. Developed and owned by an LLC that is run by Sailfish Real Estate Capital and professionally managed by Access Hotels & Resorts, The Oceaneer Hotel occupies the building formerly known as The Oceaneer Motel, which opened in 1971.

The careful, extensive renovation took more than two years to complete, and many luxury details and eco-conscious touches reflect the care taken by the investors, designers, and contractors who worked on restoring this 54-year-old beach-front building.

Rob McCord, managing partner of Sailfish Real Estate Capital, LLC., said “We have succeeded in achieving our goal of providing a boutique beach hotel that ‘loves the beach back’ while also providing remarkably comfortable and intriguing amenities. Guests will love the unusually large pool and the inviting variety of places to retreat and enjoy beach breezes.”

“We chose not to tear down a 50+ year-old building to build a generic tower,” continued McCord, “Instead, we carefully used native plants and preservation techniques, restored one of the largest swimming pools on the island, and brought vibrant, contemporary design touches to this nautically themed boutique hotel.”

The Oceaneer Hotel is just steps away from the shores of Carolina Beach, located next to an iconic area for surfing and fishing. The Oceaneer has beach cruiser bikes available for guests to borrow to explore the area. Surf lessons and E-foiling lessons, on a motorized hydrofoil board that glides above the water, are also available for guests nearby.

The Carolina Beach Boardwalk, abuzz with colorful shops, seasonal amusement rides, and delicious fair food, is a 1.5 mile walk down the beach. Carolina Beach State Park, which boasts a 50-foot sand dune and plenty of hiking trails, is nearby as well. Additional local attractions include the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, which is home to the Civil War’s largest land-sea battle.
