On my daily walk to work, I pass by countless hotels, but one hotel always stops me in my tracks: Hotel Praktik Bakery. Today is no different.
Of all the hotels, this one stands out, not for its design, but for the simple, powerful concept of an in-house bakery. Before I even notice the building, I am already greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread.
That’s where the genius lies.
Now I wonder…Why don’t more hotels bake bread?
A bakery inside a hotel isn’t just charming; it’s a brilliant business model:
→ 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲: Pastry, coffee, bread → high-margin sales all day long.
→ 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲: Locals who may never book a room now walk through the door daily. Even if they don’t stay themselves, they might recommend it to their friends.
→ 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: A line outside the bakery doubles as marketing for the hotel.
→ 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹: Partner with an established bakery brand → offer a profit split, reduce operational risk, and leverage existing recognition.
One simple concept creates multiple income streams while strengthening the core product: rooms.
Hotel Praktik proves that sometimes, all it takes is a thoughtful touch and perhaps, something as universal as the smell of fresh bread to make a lasting impression.
What do you think of this concept?
