Airbnb and Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHSNYC) have launched a multi-year partnership to support housing stability and expand economic opportunity for New Yorkers. The announcement comes at a time when the housing affordability crisis is among the most urgent challenges facing the city.
As part of the partnership, we are committing $1 million to fund homeowner services offered by NHSNYC that help residents build long-term stability at NHSNYC, as well as to support programs at four of NHSNYC’s partners: Neighborhood Housing Services of Brooklyn CDC; Neighborhood Housing Services of Queens CDC; Bronx Neighborhood Housing Services CDC; and Brooklyn Neighborhood Services.
The partnership launched with “Reimagining Home: A Community Conversation,” a public event that brought together local leaders, Airbnb hosts, entrepreneurs and community members to highlight New York City’s housing challenges and explore community-led solutions.
For over 40 years, NHSNYC has been dedicated to promoting affordable homeownership, financial literacy, and community development. The nonprofit works alongside residents to strengthen neighborhoods and ensure that New Yorkers – particularly low- and moderate-income families – have the resources they need to remain in their communities.
This partnership with Airbnb is a powerful investment in stabilizing and strengthening New York City communities. These funds will allow us to provide critical home repair grants to homeowners who are struggling with rising costs—helping to keep them in their homes safely, preserve our aging housing stock, and protect the character of our communities. At NHSNYC, we believe that supporting homeowners is key to keeping neighborhoods strong, and we’re pleased to work with Airbnb to bring real resources to the people who need them most. Our continued commitment to communities throughout New York State
Partnering with NHSNYC builds on our long-standing commitment to supporting communities throughout New York State, from the Adirondack mountains to Jamaica Bay. We reaffirmed this dedication this past February by announcing $150,000 in grants through the Airbnb Community Fund, supporting organizations across the state, including the Adirondack Council and the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation. Since 2021, Airbnb has committed over $600,000 to New York State organizations via the Fund.
In addition to providing grants to NHSNYC and its partners, we have a proud history of supporting a range of housing-focused organizations across New York City and beyond. This support includes funding for long-standing organizations like the Center for New York City Neighborhoods and the New York City Housing Partnership, which are dedicated to protecting and expanding access to affordable housing, and Win NYC, the largest provider of shelter and supportive housing for NYC’s homeless families. By partnering with these organizations, we continue to invest in solutions that address both immediate housing needs and long-term challenges, preserving and creating stronger communities for everyone.
The New York City Housing Partnership has worked for more than four decades to promote strong neighborhoods and wealth creation for New Yorkers through homeownership. We applaud Airbnb’s leadership in providing support for housing stability in partnership with nonprofits throughout the city. Jamie Smarr, President and CEO, The New York City Housing Partnership
We’re pleased to see Airbnb investing in repairs, which our data identifies as a top cause of homeowner displacement. A path forward for one- and two family homeowners to earn additional income
With the housing crisis deepening, we support solutions that protect long-term housing while creating responsible pathways for everyday New Yorkers to host short-term – a view echoed by housing advocates like the New York City Housing Partnership and outer borough homeowners struggling to make ends meet.

About Airbnb.org
Airbnb.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating temporary stays for people in times of crisis around the world. Airbnb.org operates independently and leverages Airbnb, Inc.’s technology, services, and other resources at no charge to carry out Airbnb.org’s charitable purpose. The inspiration for Airbnb.org began in 2012 with a single host named Shell who opened up her home to people impacted by Hurricane Sandy. This sparked a movement and marked the beginning of a program that allows hosts on Airbnb to provide stays for people in times of need. Since then, the program has evolved to focus on emergency response and to help provide stays to evacuees, relief workers, refugees, asylum seekers, and frontline workers fighting the spread of COVID-19. Since then, hosts have offered to open up their homes and helped provide accommodations to 100,000 people in times of need. Airbnb.org is a separate and independent entity from Airbnb, Inc. Airbnb, Inc. does not charge service fees for Airbnb.org supported stays on its platform.
