A former hotel and wedding venue in Kent has been sold, along with an adjoining residential property, to local entrepreneur Terence Haigh for £1.7m.

Little Silver Country Hotel in Tenterden, Kent went on the market in May when Watling Real Estate was appointed by joint fixed charge receivers Paul Atkinson and Julie Humphrey of FRP, following the recent closure of the site.

The property, which sits on nearly one acre of land, was sold freehold and will remain a hotel and leisure facility under the new ownership.

It features 16 en-suite bedrooms, a bar and restaurant, and wedding function room, with the accommodation extending to approximately 10,635 sq ft.

Haigh, who built up and sold sauce company Fruitapeel and allergen-free food company, Supreme Foods, plans to reopen the hotel by the end of the year after completing a full refurbishment of the property, including upgrading the rooms and improving the garden.

Tom Colyer, associate director in Watling’s London office, said: “During the marketing process, we had strong levels of interest from across a number of purchaser groups within the wider hospitality and leisure sector.

“Little Silver Country Hotel has in the past been a very popular hotel and wedding venue with a long history in this part of Kent and we are very pleased to have achieved a result where it will remain a hotel and leisure facility. It is fantastic to see continued commercial use which will provide a great facility and employment opportunities for the local community and further afield.”
